Thank you for the advice, I'm in my 2nd semester of a Rad Tech program in Florida. I love that your kids pop by in the videos and that you include it.

Hey how is it learning in these courses? Hard?

@@jpmalu90 it's challenging but I do like it, I think that if you find the material interesting then you are more focused on the courses. i'm currently in a class called "MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY" it's a required course for the degree. it's an accelerated summer session college course so it's 8 weeks there are exams every friday that are worth 100 points and they are timed tests apx 40 questions or sometimes more.. they aren't easy but if you study u can pass the weekly quizzes. my GPA is currently about 83% so a strong "B" average. it covers alot of anatomy and anatomy terminology as well as general medical terms and vocabulary and proper spelling and definition of these medical terms. in the upcoming fall I will be enrolling in introduction to Computers, {also required} and English and Anatomy & physiology these are tough courses it's not an easy two year degree. but I do believe in this degree and what the career is all about. I like the curriculum and the challenge, it makes sense thats its not easy and that it's challenging because you're dealing with human beings. lives.

Thanks for sharing! I am finishing up my first year in my rad tech program and I struggle with / am intimidated by doing pediatric exams. Any tips or tricks for working with kids and their parents? I really want to be better at this! Thanks 😀

Explain everything before you do it so that parents and kids know what to expect! Kids younger than three it’s best just to go fast and get the exam over with. Older kids are more capable of understanding and working with you!

Hey Sydney, thanks for the great info! I am a mom of 2 kids as well and excited to start my RT program in the fall. I would like to get a jump-start if possible between now and then. I keep hearing that radiation physics can be one if the toughest courses. Can you suggest any resources online or key subjects to try to grasp an understanding of before I start the program? Also is there a specific bone anatomy (like something that took longer to remember) that would be most helpful for me to start memorizing? If that makes sense. Like should I focus on chest, abdomen, etc? Thank you so much!

I’m so excited for you! Radiation physics is probably the most challenging but I see a lot of students and techs struggle with technique which you will be using far more often in the daily job. I would enjoy the calm before classes start and maybe just review anatomy (especially in the skull). A lot of things won’t make since until an instructor breaks it down so I wouldn’t overwhelm yourself. Good luck!
