As someone who found the XT-3 so compelling that I switched camera systems for it, I am extremely excited by this camera. Not only does this camera offer features that I was hoping for, it demonstrates to me that I bet on the right horse when I moved to Fuji from Nikon. Fuji listens to their customers in a way other companies just don't, and that makes me really happy to have invested in their system.

I've just pre-ordered it today. I've so far had a great experience with the X-E3 (just like you Ted), and I thought this would be a nice upgrade for improving battery life, AF performance and the benefit of having inbody stabilisation. I've had the chance to test it yesterday, and it felt really good, so I took the plunge. I'm not that fussed about having a full frame camera, but as I do a lot of low light and action shots, I think it will be a camera I'll keep for some time to come. I'll let you know when I finally get my camera :) Great day x

You don't joke around or mess around and you capture the audience... Good job, it makes me want one right now, the question is how long is the wait in line going to be for this prize winning beauty. Thanks! Great video. I’d like to see examples of shooting video with Eterna + different shadow, highlight, saturation settings to make “in camera grading profiles”. Also what does HDR mean in terms of video? Extended dynamic range? Is it like HLG? Do overexposed LED lights retain its colour when over exposed (like on many new cameras and phones) or does it just go white? Is the h.265 codec changed and easier to edit, or still heavy on the computer? Is there still a 30 minute recording limit?

For the full review please test the built in audio pre-amps. You don't have to go all scientific, just plugin a (good quality) mic and record some voice over. Leave a few seconds silence at the end (make sure the room you're in is quiet) This way it's easy to hear how noisy or clean the pre-amps are. If you can compare to a budget audio recorder, that would be even better. Thnx for the overview and looking forward to the full review!

Ted, what camera did you shoot this video with? The colors/skin tones, shadow fall off, etc look great. I think I'd like the see what the slo-mo looks like---how sharp and clean is 4k 60p slowed to 30p, how good does the 240 1080p look, and what sort of crops are we looking at in slow mo. As a strictly video shooter those are things I'd love to know a bit more about. Sold my X-H1 in the expectation of this camera (though I really hoped it would be the X-H2..:-( But until that happens this will do for sure. I love shooting video on the APS-C sensor---for me, it yields the true cinematic look. Full frame---well, that the photographic look. They're both good--but in most cases I'll take the APS-C. Will definitely purchase the XT4 unless unforeseen situations preclude the possibility. Fuji rocks!

I was using Fuji, but I sold it and went with a Canon R6. Great camera, but it's just not the same shooting experience. Now I'm thinking of going back, but I'm not wild about the X-T5 or the more video-centric X-H series My quest now is to locate an X-T4, especially because it (unlike the T5) has a fully articulating screen. I don't shoot video, and honestly, I don't shoot much with the LCD. What I like about it, is that you can flip it around and hide it. Makes it easier to use the EVF (my preference) without pressing your nose into the LCD.

I shoot studio portraits and natural light headshots. Occasionally I shoot editorial style environmental portraits of working artists. Really can’t decide between this and the XPRO. X pro 3 rocks for street
@timothylinn4 жыл бұрын
@@bobhanuman65 I can understand the appeal of the X-Pro3 to some street shooters. Certainly, the users who love that screen design love it _passionately_ . For me, the screen is a deal killer and, even if it weren't, the X-Pro3 is not as broadly versatile as the X-T body style so it is not a substitute for an X-T body with the three-way tilt design. It doesn't seem impossible for Fuji to take the X-T3's LCD design and mount it on an articulating plate to address all shooting styles though there will no doubt be a contingent who would argue against that as being too complicated. Ted would seem to fall into that camp. It's an argument along the lines of "I don't shoot video so cameras shouldn't have that capability" or "I never shoot color so why can't Fuji make the [insert body of choice] monochrome only?"
@bobhanuman654 жыл бұрын

I just don't like the flip screen. It's clumsier, off axis from the lens, and it makes the camera twice as wide when flipped out. I understand wanting it for video, but I don't shoot video. The XT-3's main appeal over the competition is its ergonomics and tactile controls, so something that throws off years of muscle memory is off-putting for me. That said, I'd learn to deal with it if it seemed like a substantial upgrade. But it doesn't. IBIS is great, but my primary concern is subject motion not camera motion, so for me it's not essential. A larger battery would be nice, but I've got a couple spares, and I get plenty of shots before I have to change out. Everything else is just firmware. The X100V, on the other hand, is very tempting. But it's hard to justify when the XT-3 and 27mm pancake combo is already so small.
