Great stuff here and fantastic resource for Fuji T users. I shoot an older Olympus camera and it's fine but I sure am liking what I see in this new X-T4. Oh, and at least twice I went out on a photo expedition and forgot that earlier I was uploading photos to my computer and did not reinstall the card back into the camera before I left. It's also good to have a additional available card in your kit. :)

Adobe RGB for beginners is not a good idea. Nearly all monitors, consumer printers, websites use sRGB. Adobe RGB is more for the professional side, who print their own work and know how to convert color files using calibrated monitors. I’m watching this video as a refresher for my x-t4, which I don’t use nearly as often.

Correct me if I'm wrong. I think the color space just affects JPEG files? If the JPEG is uploaded to the web straight out of camera (sooc), it might be best to use sRGB. I've read AdobeRGB colors will degrade when uploaded to the web, since it converts to sRGB. If shooting AdobeRGB for web, it'll require the additional step of converting to sRGB through software before uploading. However, if the JPEG is sooc for print, AdobeRGB will give the printer a wider color range. If this is the case, would sRGB work better for beginners, since they're more likely to post JPEGs sooc on the web?

Yeah, very good points. Technically I agree that sRGB is better. I do need to cover color space in more detail as capturing the full gamut gives most options and exporting is where the magic happens. I really, really need more time to spend on this one for sure. Can’t days be like 50 hours instead of that damn 24!!!!!!!

If you're going straight to web or print without any post processing, sRGB is preferable. But if you plan to do any post processing, AdobeRGB (Adobe1998) is a better choice if you're shooting JPG. If you're shooting raw, it doesn't matter - you get maximum data saved to the memory card regardless of the color space setting.

Do you have an initial setup for advanced users? In other words, I’ve been shooting on a Nikon for a very long time, but I now have an XT-4 as a second camera. It took years of shooting on the Nikon to get to a point where I could literally make adjustments to my manual shooting in the dark (all of my photos were in dark clubs late at night). I digress … I’d like to become as comfortable with the Fuji platform but I keep questioning my initial setup. I just want to make sure the setup is solid before I start shooting. To summarize, an *initial setup for advanced shooters new to the Fuji platform* would be amazing!

Just got my X-T4, super excited! Although, I started going through the manual and felt like I just signed up for a secondary study program... This video saves the day! A few questions: (1) What's the disadvantage of saving in lossless RAW? It seems like a winner to save some space without sacrificing quality. (2) When selecting fine+raw, does it make a difference setting the color space to Adobe RGB if the photos will be edited in RAW? For the fines, I think it's main purpose will be quickly scanning through photos and easily sharing them unedited, for which the more consumer-friendly sRGB seems the preferred color space.

Super late here, but I believe the disadvantage of lossless compressed raw vs uncompressed raw is that the lossless compression has to be calculated by the camera each time, so the time it takes to save each image is increased. I don't know what sort of impact that has outside of burst shooting though.

Just got an XT4 a couple weeks ago (I'm a rookie/intermediate hobbyist) and have been loving it.. but noticed that my pictures are turning out very dull and weak on the colors. The EVF or LCD gives a great representation of beautiful, accurate, and vivid colors, but the resulting photo.. I can only describe it as queasy, or seasick.. very different from the EVF.. it's just bland and has a little too much green hue and low saturation... These are indoor photos btw.. aaaanyways.. I found out today that it's the Adobe RGB color space that was causing it. I switched it to the other option and the photos are looking great now. I see that AdobeRGB might be better for people that are doing a lot more editing - I guess it gives you more flexibility. Just in case anyone is experiencing the same thing, try that setting!! Pal2tech, love your channel. It's my favorite 👍

I've used these settings since I got my camera in December. (Now I've changed my raw files to lossless compressed) One thing you might consider. If you have the IBIS set to 'shooting only' it isn't on when you're focusing. I noticed this when using the x2 teleconverter with the new 70-300mm fuji lense. At 600mm I couldn't hold the lens still enough to focus. Once I had reset the IS to be on all the time it was easy.

Thank for all your videos...Im a big fan of the Fujifilm ecosystem but im little disappointed with the X-T4, finally I upgraded my X-T1 after A LOT of years (mostly for photos)...Why im disappointed? I see no big improvement in image quality on the X-T4, even with less resolution raw files looks much better on the older X-T1, colour science and overall detail is better on the first generation sensor, noise is 100% the same for both, no improvement years later, tested all raw files with 18-55 and 70-300mm, identical configuration on both cameras...of course the X-T4 is way better on AF and Video, but I had more expectations about the best fujifilm camera, at least on paper...

Hello, only you can help me. I have a Fuji X-T4 camera and I noticed two very unpleasant facts: 1. even with the control functions all manual and all blocked, with the zoom (18-55mm) at minimum aperture 4.0 blocked, you can notice a change in brightness when changing focal length while shooting. 2. Even with the manual WB function blocked, there is a color change if the shot moves from two different light sources. Do you agree? Is it possible that there is such a huge mistake? Could I be doing something wrong with the settings?

This crap about shooting RAW.. Yeah if you are a professional! These days you are meant to be editing 13 hours after the one hour photo shoot. It's hilarious. But with the XT4 you have a multitude of options in JPEG. Unless you need to edit that car numberplate in the background. Think on that.

hi, well i was finaly convinced to upgrade my X-T2 for the X-T4....my ealier foray into photography was film and the cameras were manual ( hassleblads and 5x4 cameras) that was 50 years ago... so here i am after many many digital cameras but i find the modern cameras like Fuji are amazing but the menu options very confusing. To that end i watched and followed this tutorial but after finishing i went to fit a lens and try it out . ( only bought the camera yesterday) but the camera fused to focus lockn ( just got a red box) on anything closer than 2meters away i did have a yellow padlock on the right hand of the screen no matter what buttons i pressed always the same. Reset the camera to factory settins and all was well ......lost all the settings of course. any ideas why this occurs?

Oh thanks for this great video. Since I am new to fujifilm I was wondering if you could help me with one thing as I can not find an answer to it anywhere. Every time I take a picture with my fujifilm X-T4, it takes 3 pictures and combines it to one (I assume it tries to even out instability) but the problem is, when I take a picture of a person and this person moves, the pictures shows in the end that the person has 3 noses, or a missing arm. Chris, Chris this is amazing :D I've already set up my X-T4 but I think I'll reset it and follow your instructions 😂 I have a question for you though, about something I've found while toying with the camera: with the 18-55mm mounted on my X-T4, I switch off the OIS button on my lens, expecting the lens will just act as a non-stabilized one, and that the camera's IBIS will just kick in and compensate. But it doesn't. Instead, I see the "hand shake" icon in the EVF, as if image stabilization is off (basically as if IBIS didn't exist on my camera and I was shooting with a non-stabilized lens). The reason for this experiment was that I wanted to see what I can expect from the camera's IBIS in terms of stabilization in case I decide to buy a non-stabilized prime later. But I wasn't able to replicate that at all. Any idea what's the cause of this? 😃

I can confirm that for some reason X-T4 does not allow you to choose between IBIS and OIS (or use them simultaneously) when both are present. More so if your camera is wearing a stabilized lens then IBIS seem to not function at all leaving you with only two options - you either use OIS or turn it off and shoot without IS at all.

@Frag-ile I'm interstate on vacation with kids and theme parks and surfy beach and it's still my main grab'n'go kit when I want something more robust and better image quality than the smartphone (which isn't often admittedly). I waited and bought adapters when they were available for me to use the set of K-mount and M42 mount lenses I'd accumulated for my Pentax K5iis. A bigger zoom is next savings target for some landscape plans, but that might end up being after high school expenses are over
