@@Mechanic618 That's literally what Takara already does. Arguably the best or certainly in the conversation of best sculpts, and they cover their figures in paint.

Takara removes important sculpting #becausetoon but in its place they put a bunch of crappy panel seams and gaps, ruining the entire purpose of toon design which is smooth surfaces. The paint they do apply is often applied too thick and looks bad or chips easily. And then they do you the favor of charging you double for it.

@@Mechanic618 lol what? Fanstoys among other third parties chip just as much as Takara lol. My FT Galvatron, Cyclonus, and Hotrod are proof of that. I don't disagree about panel seems etc, however Takara literally changed the current MP collection aesthetic by going toon accurate. Sure there are seems/panels, but for the most part their Prime, Megatron, Shockwave, among other recent figures, ooze screen accuracy. Hell, even the new official Hound has a cleaner torso and leg design than FT Willis, which I own both of. I definitely agree about their pricing though, such an asinine direction for the MP line.

@@TheReincarnatedDeath Unfortunately is sounds like some copies had loose or missing pins in figures which is downright idiotic. However properly assembled hands on this figure are downright amazing. Definitely unfortunate for those missing digits though.

Please do the comparison! Gravestone makes me so happy. Everything clicks in in such a satisfying way. The hooks for the side flaps scare me the most. I think he looks great in both modes. Definitely my favorite of the 3. I could've done with him being scaled down just a bit. Closer to Prime in robot mode. Only other complaint is the arm color. They should be darker, considering how dark they went on the bumpers and box head, AND the fact that you can sort of see them in truck mode.

kyllerkill if I had the ability, I would own all sets, but unfortunately, I had to make a decision as to which one I thought would give me the best representation of the too. Character, but with a hint of maturity to him. Roadking did that for me. The XTB version looks the part, but mistakes like the substandard plastics connector in the waist where Bobby showed the stress mark is a mistake that FansToys usually won’t make. To me, just a better built product overall. The arms, chest, and head sculpt all look more refined on Roadking to me. Plus, that FansToys “heft” makes me feel warm and fuzzy lol

Yeah they have. I am still not sure yet. I hated them hard for Krank / Stax. I said I was done with them after Beachcomber / Boost & Hatch, but we'll see. I love this alt mode sooo much. I have a Decepticon Trailer for my MP-10B Nemesis Prime that I wonder what would look like with it. I am already committed to the FansToys versions, but we'll see.

@luisperezart I think so and whatever their version of Scourge was as well. I never opened my Apollyon because I saw everyone having issues with theirs. Transistor was KFC, so I don't know if that counts? lol. Apollyon is still a nice looking figure, but isn't really fun to transform.

The head goes through the chest cavity just fine if you fold the collar bone the opposite way to what the instructions say. I'm referring to both the joint in the middle and the two side joints.

If you disconnect the plate that holds the feet in place at the back of alt mode you can separate the feet without stressing that toe tab because the ankle joints are freed.

Great review. I went with both FT and XTB because I wasn't sure who was going to create the best combiner. My money's on FT, and hopefully they don't disappoint, but I just wanted a "safety net" of sorts. I passed on DX9 because I can't justify numerous sets of the same bots, and I already have the Transformission set (which is IDW inspired, granted).

The team started off so strong but, looks like all the praise XTB got caused them to get slack with the QC towards the finish line. Hoping they can still finish strong with the combined mode.

One of the reasons I will specifically seek out a Skullface Brand Video Review is that you don't bullshit about quality and tolerances. I wanted to see if this guy feels safe to handle. I did not even need to get to your final thoughts to make that determination.

I had mine break right out of the box during the first transformation at that connector piece you pointed out between the top and bottom of the figure. Be forewarned...

Minor detail missed, on both legs right above the feet those peg and slot parts actually spin around to make them flat. Great detail when executed, but then there’s the peg on the foot and the “wings”. But for me, this is my motormaster of choice because all the attention to details and goods outweigh the bad. Solid, good looking figure.

So far, I haven't had any issues with that inner torso clip - might add some shock oil to make sure it's always easy going. But I like it. We'll see which one looks better as Menasor - XTB or FT.

05:45 - you can push the heel further into place, it will soft-detent into place to ensure the heel can take weight on it when posing. You do it correctly on the second one a minute later.

He’s the most toon accurate. Solid build with good material. He’s been my favorite of the three so far. Based on side he will probably be the individual team for me and dx9 will probably be the combined mode cuz he’s just the right size and fans toys I will see when I get all of them. Toon wise I don’t see any faults to this. The foot grill is black but that’s the only nit pick when I painted anyways so for me this guy is awesome and my favorite one thus far. Fans toys is mind blowing with the back pack trailer but he’s more stylized than the xtransbot

Great review, shame about the finger pin and stress mark on the ab crunch. I've got the same stress mark on mine. Just a few things, you missed a few steps with the head transformation which is why you had to force it through so hard. If you rotate the collar piece first the head can move through without any contact on other parts (steps 40-44 in the instructions). Also the tabs on the shins can rotate to leave a cleaner look. Hopefully you do a comparison with Road King and Capone. All 3 seem to have their positive and negative points.

I hope Rising Force has a motormaster that is more like MP44 in alt mode. In particular, where the trailer rides lower since that's something that's a big deal to me since I want to recreate the scene where Motormaster collides with Prime.

I wish they'd done their Breakdown in the pearlescent white they used here for the arms, it looks much nicer and really pops. Crack Beigedown is probably my only complaint with this set so far (yes I know the Toy edition is painted white but I prefer the cartoon looks). Thanks for providing transformation guide, now I can have a go at mine :)

Good review. I am in love with their Alt mode. Until you talked about the waist part, I was very much thinking I would get this one. I have already seen tons of people breaking that part on the figure. Stunticons are my favorite and I am already committed to the FansToys versions. I told myself I was done with XTB after Beachcomber/Boost & Hatch. I was lucky and made money on those figures because the fandom is crazy sometimes...lol. Keep up your reviews. If by some chance you would ever want any stop-motion animation done...let me know. I'd love to collaborate with you. Just keep that in mind and take care.

X Transbots/KFC is one of my favorite TF 3rd party companies, I know they had some big failures in the past but I'm fairly new to 3rd party TF collecting and every one deserves a second chance. From the 3 latest releases, this is my least favorite rendition of this character, at least until the trailer comes out, being that Fans Toys is the first and DX9 is the second. It's unfortunate they used crappy plastic for a small piece that is so important to the transformation and articulation of the figure. I hope it will hold up to the needed transformations that since this is a combiner ,will be more then a few. Nice review Mr. Skullface, as usual all the info we could get without having the item in hand, that will help those of us that were still undecided decide (I went with FT instantly), was provided by my favorite TF action figure reviewer Bobby Skullface. That favorite TF action figure reviewer thing is the cause not the effect, you're the best so you're my favorite and not the other way around.

I'll have to keep tabs (ha) on the center piece you mentioned for the ab crunch. I didn't notice any stress marks on mine, but I didn't take a hard look at it, either. Is it possible that X-Transbots will put a replacement piece in the trailer, when it's released, or is it something that would be too difficult to change if that goes?

I do have the stress mark in that middle rectangular piece on the hinge but I'm wondering how much weight and force is actually being carried by the end pieces which have no stress marks and are thicker...just wondering if a total fail of the part with the stress mark will actually be catastrophic...hoping not lol.

If you have a hard time getting the head through the chest, pull out on the arms. Because the slider doesn't become solid until you peg the arms in later, they can slide in slightly and block the head from swinging through. Also during the leg transformation, you forgot to spin around the peg that holds the legs together in truck mode.

Ohhh, that stressed point in the ab section SUCKS. Guessing XTB made this strictly to combine, pose, display, & leave alone instead of to be actually played with & transformed. 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️ I'm not sure now. I was thinking of the XTB Stunticons if it wasn't too late to get the other four, but seeing this? I dunno. I don't particularly like DX9 or FT for how unnecessarily massive they are. I'm not a fan of the MP Combiners, but this seemed like a more manageable size *for me personally*...then this thing with the XTB Motormaster's ab section happened. I certainly hope that there's a replacement parts kit that redoes those parts with either a heavier plastic or even diecast metal.

Just my opinion after owning this but in my opinion and this is my opinion I think this Figure has enough flaws that I myself think it's a turd, the truck mode is nice but the bot mode is garbage, I'm keeping it just because I'm a stunticon fan, I've never really felt like this toward a figure but I do regret buying this turd.

X-Transbots has a reputation of making a number of QC fixes with later releases. I would wait for a Version 2 of this one because I bet this part will be fixed by the next release. This is my favorite of the 3 releases but I would never get this first release with that faulty part.

I feel there is always so much emphasis placed on stress marks. Dont see the big deal. I've had figures that have had stress marks for years, and nothing has happened to them.

How often do you transform those figures? Is the plastic thick or thin like a tab? Having a stress mark on an ab crunch, a feature thay will get used often, is a really bad sign that it can easily fail if you use too much force.
