The thing I love about Fans Toys is that the chest vents actually look like vents with deep grooves and to my knowledge it's the only 3rd party Springer that does that.

Yeah I dunno why no one else does that. The rest just look so plain and less purposeful. The chest and the face sculpt are the biggest reasons I'm still considering the fanstoys over the others

The X-transbots Virtus is actually 4 oz heavier than the Fans Toys Apache, 1 lb 13 oz vs 1 lb 9 oz. Even with the plastic shoulder replacement pieces, it's still 1 lb 11.1 oz. I noticed the weight difference immediately when I got Virtus and it made me go weigh them both.

I went for the fans toys and my brother got the XTB, we are both happy. I think this speaks to the quality of these figures both are rather solid and fill in the shelf space well.

I wanted to keep my FT Springer, he has the best chest by far, but when I saw XTB, the shoulders, pelvis and legs were just that much better, that I think the overall look was superior. I also prefer XTB's head (not face). If I could give the XTB the FT face and chest grill, it would be the best imo. Great vid as always!

The hindsight of "the wars" in characters between companies is that (for the most part) we're all better for it. Customers have more options, and companies have tried to produce better products. Downside is space for those that like to/chose to get multiples... but what a _"first world problem"_ to have.

It so often feels like a mixed bag. On one hand, it's great to have many options to choose from, but when none of them seem to fit the bill, it's pretty depressing. At the same time, it can also be pretty frustrating when on releases a really good version early on, and then a whole bunch of bad or mediocre variants come after that seemingly serve little purpose and leave many collectors wishing they'd gone for a different release to not over-saturate the market. Options are great, but they don't guarantee quality or fulfillment. Still, better lots of options than just one offering that was kinda bland, sold out, was never re-released, and nobody plans to attempt again for years, if ever.

There are so many 3P Springer options out there, but it still feels really difficult to pick one. XTB looks incredible in bot mode, great gimmicks (love the hidden arm cannons), great accessories (the spinning rotor and the stand are really cool, and the guns look great), it doesn't have a single mode that's really weak, and even has a decent transformation, but it has SERIOUS joint issues. The Fanstoys has that FT durability and premium build quality, and you don't have to be afraid you'll break it, but it's got very limited articulation, and the car mode is just very meh. The MMC is easily the most fun to play with, it has sword-wielding wrists which is important for a character like Springer, and it comes with the very cool trident, but it has ugly black elbow joints that break up the arms, it has the worst car mode out of the three, and it doesn't quite have the presence of the XTB and the FT. And Airwolf is an absolute steal for less than a hundred bucks, it looks very decent from the front and back, but it doesn't have the premium feel and presence that the other three have, and from the top it almost looks like a CHUG figure. I guess I'll have to buy all four.

This was definitely one of the harder bots to choose the one I wanted in my collection. Even though I love gimmicks... and wanted better shoulders... ultimately the chest on Fanstoys is just so much more the look I wanted that it was the end decision maker. All of the others might as well be a flat torso with a sticker on it compared to how well I feel Fanstoys pulled it off.

Interestingly I was thinking the XTB had a too small a head.. But then seeing that Fanstoys put a peanut on Apache too I’m not that upset about it and am pretty pleased with my purchase.

FT Apache was my choice! Solid figure, looks much better even if it's not 100% toon accurate, which is usually a deal breaker for me.

Said it before, the XTB chest not securing in place is an absolute lethal blow for me. Unacceptable and an automatic disqualification. Even if it did, it isn't enough to make me swap out the FT. Only thing I'd really change on that is the forearms. I don't even mind the shoulders.

Agreed. But Fanstoys face and chest are so much better and these are two of the 3 key elements to nailing a figure (face/head, distinctive characteristic [in this case chest], and overall proportions). But his arms are massively out of proportion. Well, at least I don’t mind having a Springer for each mode. That said as long as they made us wait and with the premium price upping, xtb should have been perfect.

I have been struggling w/ this exact conundrum for a while. I was really impressed w/ the new WFC engineering (so much fun to transform), until I went to put him on the battlefield and he could pretty much only stand at attention, and now, years later he's just a sloppy mess. So... I decided I needed to start a 3rd Party Masterpiece collection. I picked up GCreations Ultra Maxmus for my Prime (💖). I'm definitely getting Zeta Toys' Astrotrain (have you seen it's train mode??); and I already have the money set aside for Hasbro's Skyfire release next year. Now that I've seen this video, I'm going with the Fanstoys Springer . I love his look and he's flexible enough. Plus, the head-sculpt is always key for me, and Fanstoys' absolutely knocks it out of the park. Accessories are just more things to store somewhere when I'm not using them. The Fanstoys version seems a lot like Siege Springer, just better. It might not have been everyone's cup of tea, but he charmed me.

I really want to love Virtus. The paint is great, its articulation is excellent, the sculpt is on the money. Hell, the transformation, especially with the legs, is straightforward and quite elegant, albeit with a larger backpack. Then again, Apache has a clunky transformation that doesn't even clean up well, as well as backpack that isn't much better. However, they didn't implement a locking mechanism for the chest. It just flops around. It could so easily have been implemented, but it wasn't. For me, it's so close to being perfect, but that one mistake sinks what should have easily been a blowout figure into my biggest purchasing regret thus far. I had been anticioating the figure for a long time, but got tunnel vision and didn't read any reviews beforehand. Hopefully their Magnus doesn't share the same fate.

I like both, to be honest. FT has much better build quality, but XTB is more cartoon accurate. If my FT Springer's ankles didn't fail (the pins got super loose) I wouldn't have switched out. Then when I got the XTB and I saw that the entire front of the torso doesn't attach to the body, I was like "WTF, XTB?! This took you years to make?!" Their Springer could've been a home run if they just paid a little more attention to detail in the design/engineering process, as well as in the QC process (shoulder paint chippage). Still a great looking figure. Both of them are awesome! Thanks and happy Saturday to all!

that was my exact reaction. When I saw that there wasn't a locking in mechanism for the chest, I just wanted to go at the figure with a hammer. Considering how great everything else is, it increased my infuriation by a factor of ten, and made what should (on paper) be a 9 or even 10/10 figure into a big stinking disappointment.

I Dunno Skully I always thought XTB Springer would look the best, but I felt Unique toys allan was 2nd, or my place holder, no I ain't no hyper toon natzi either. I'm very interested to hear your gonna discuss these gray areas further, FT usually looks highly intense, statuesque almost but they tend to push the idea/spirit of the character. XTB always looks really good &accurate to the character, every other ones gonna be greatly intense and accurately toon, but not childish. They're both in a pickle trying 2b something sophisticated n adult but not too pretentious and dismissive about the toon aesthetic & inaccurately portraying the character. Hard2 tango back n forth while attempting to make transformation durable and pleasing, plus triple changers are difficult to design anyway, Skully r u optimistic of a FTOYS blitzy" where's my blitzwing mac💬🤛?

I think XTB won the Alt modes because both of them are more accurate to the original models. Even though it wont affect the end result, I think FT lost the shoulder articulation because the shoulders can't peck deck. In my opinion, for a gun holding character that articulation point is very important. I agree with the rest of your assessment, thanks for the comparison Mr. Skullface.

Although I'm a FT fanboi, I'm glad that X-TB won. I noticed when FT wins, the XTB fans have a fit, however, when XTB wins, FT fans seem to be cool either way.

Xtransbots wins but... I honestly don't care. It wins each category by a slim margin and I just don't care enough about Springer to swap out my MP Springer for a 3rd time for very marginal improvements especially for another $200.

For me, This would be a Tie...XTB has the lower Boddeyyy, while FT gets the upper. FTs wins on build and price, XTB wins on accuracy and gimmicks. BUT Considering XTB had 5 years on FT and Did NOT get it Perfect is a Huge Fail...Overall Winner MMC.
