My 12 year old grandson loves this game. I've been playing a bit with him and it is fun. Came here to youtube so I can learn some of the nuances more quickly. ... For those who think this game is complicated, compare it with Warhammer 40K. This one is a piece of cake.

This game is so Great, bought it a couple days ago and was playing it for the first time yesterday, over a friend's house. Most fun i had in months, me and my friends were just euphoric playing it haha. Really fast paced too, immersive and the dogfighting aspect (not being able to just stop and continue shooting at each other, forcing you to keep moving) makes the combat a true rush, even with just the initial 3 ships. Add the friking asteroids and/or other obstacles, and the advanced aspects such as upgrade cards and how everything (tokens, stress etc..) factors in, its just an amazing and immersive game and really thrilling if you get invested into whats going on with your friends haha

+Cplblue ah, i havent checked it, im usually fine with teasers but never liked how trailers explain too much on the movies, specially in recent years haha but glad to hear. I already went to buy a couple expansions 2 days ago, and opened them this morning (rebel aces and an a-wing). They just released the Death Star miniature It’s super massive about the size of a dining room table. What’s more it opens up and can store your entire collection inside of it. Weird that they only gave it 6 shield tokens and 6 attack dice.

I agree Nic, if any1 has every played 40k they would realize wat kind of a value this game really is. Try buying 30 dollars worth of miniatures in that game and see how far you can go in playing a match. Not even to mention they come unassembled and unpainted. You cant even buy rulebooks for 40k for less than 100$. Anyone complaining about fantasy flights cost needs to remove their head from thine posterior. I just picked this up today after a conversation with the shop owner over how BS the warhammer prices are. We were talking about how nobody ever wants to buy and play the X-Wing table tops he has in stock, so I took a look and next thing you know we're fighting over who gets to be the Empire. We screwed up the rules so much, so when I go back tomorrow I'll have to show him this video, which does a much better job than the booklet does.

To add to that, you're not paying $40 for just 'three tiny plastic ships', but for hours and hours and hours of fun with your friends. I\ve bought core set, two Lambda's, two Tie Interceptors, A-wing, B-wing and YT1300, gonna buy another core set soon. The fun I have playing this game is more than worth it.

Can someone tell me what happens if you hit a critical on an opponent that has a shield, I am assuming it works as normal but that seems slightly counter intuitive? I just ordered this game a few days ago and want to have a good idea of the rules before starting.

if you have a shield you don't suffer a critical hit, you just lose the shield.

Hello. No! You can play Empire v Empire or Rebels v Rebels or Scum v Scum if you like. You can even mix and match the eras pitting Episode 4 ships up against Episode 1 ships.

Huh why does the Tie fighter have a 2 for firepower but the X-Wing has a 3? In the original trilogy ALONE it’s been shown countless times that Tie's are essentially glass cannons... oh well, I guess for balancing purposes. But still I think you could have substituted 1 speed or defence point for a firepower point

the one thing preventing me from ordering right now is that the X-Wing looks tiny compared to the Ties. I know that all ships *should* be in scale and even Lucas Arts confirmed that, but for me, it just looks wrong that a flimsy tie is that big compared to the mighty X-Wing. Even the devs originally planned the Ties quite a lot smaller.

Do I need to buy the starter box to play, or can my friends and I each pick an expansion kit and play together this way? It looks like I can pick an expansion, pick up a die pack and color it good, which would cost like $20, instead of $100

You unfortunately need the core set for the included movement templates and damage deck. :( You can buy them separately on ebay, but it may cost more than the actual core set. I actually picked up the Force Awakens (the newest) core set at Gamestop for $20, and the price is still good. You can use it with any expansion pack you want as well.

I'd say the core set is usually one of the more cost efficient ways of getting ships anyway, you get 3 ships for what should be less then 3 times the price of an expansion pack. Your store is ripping you off if you pay $100 for it.

No problem. There are also Y-wing, A-wing, TIE Interceptor, TIE Advanced, Millenium Falcon, and Slave 1 booster packs, but so far, the only boosters I have found are the X-wing, TIE Fighter, Y-wing and TIE Advanced packs. The A-wing and the Interceptor should be out early 2013.
