I have both cameras, the X100v from launch (sold my X-T1 and lenses to get it) and recently bought the X-T5 kit and XF-35mm (sold my Sony @7 3 and lenses). I’m much more impressed with the images out of both Fujifilm cameras than the Sony… seriously!

I was debating buying x-t5 over a7iii.Just curious, what made you choose the Fuji??
@macjim Жыл бұрын
@@rajesh19kaushik well, I bought the Sony @7 3 as I wanted a full frame sensor camera (but I don’t like canon and Nikon; especially Nikon (past bad experiences with Nikon)) but I wasn’t impressed with the image quality I got from the Sony. I went and replaced it with the X-T5 based on my current, and previous Fujifilm cameras due to the image quality I’ve had over the years. My X100v actually betters the X-T5 in my opinion but has less pixels to play with. I felt the X-T5’s 48 megapixels not only gave me the image quality Fujifilm has always given me but it also gave me cropping power too. Basically it’s more usable than most cameras but still has the Fuji look that the x-trans sensor gives me. It’s just something about what Fuji cameras output that has me enjoying over other brands. I’ve had Canon pocket cameras, Nikon DSLR’s, Sony cameras, Leica and other brands but I seem to always end up back using Fujifilm X-Trans sensor cameras. But if I can save enough money and it finally comes into stock next year, I’m thinking about selling both to buy a Leica Q3… I’d love to keep the Fuji’s but they will have to be sold to fund the Q3… I will miss them. PS remember, the Sony is a much older camera so while it’s still a good camera the X-T5 is a younger model and Fujifilm has a history of updating the software while Sony is less so to update.

agreed! I have an X-E3 and it's so much smaller and lighter than the x100V. I tried one in the fujifilm store in London and didn't realise how chunky it was. With the option of using the 27mm pancake withe the X-E3, its much nicer in the hand personally

@brownbear100 Жыл бұрын
I think the people saying that are A - buying into the hype and engaging in confirmation bias, or B - using alongside a big full frame cam. The x100v, like the X-e4 are not small, compact or pocketable... unless you have big pockets. Doesn't mean it's not good, but I think people used to compact cameras coming to this will be surprised by its size.

Preferred the x-t5 also and ended up selling the x100v. I liked it very much aesthetically, and there's times I don't want a more professional looking camera and to blend in more. But the x100v isn't really that compact either. And I prefer the images coming out of the new sensor - a bit more pop and saturation SOOC. Had the x70 for a while, and that size and what you get out of it is great. You won't get as much feel good "look at me and my cool camera" vibe out of it. But it's so much more compact with its own cool unique features. But its showing its age in terms of build quality, menus, and IQ. I may well end up with a GR camera if Fuji isn't going to make a more compact version as a light option. The way I see it, if it's going to be as bulky as a x100v, I could sell some of the bigger fast primes and just pick up a Q2 or 3. At €1200 the X100v makes a compelling buy ... at closer to €1800, what I sold mine for - really no. Then I'd rather buy an x-t30 or x-e4 and a small lens for less. Currently my small walkaround set up is X-t5 + 16 2.8. Electronic teleconverter gets you to 22mm anyway! Will be watching Fuji and Ricoh closely over the next few months. New x100 coming for Fuji in the spring, about time for a new GR too.

You’re absolutely right when you talk about size and weight, plus flexibility. If you are any sort enthusiast/serious photographer, why restrict yourself to one fixed focal length? Yes, you have the additional cost of lenses, but each one is almost like owning a different camera, offering you so much added potential. You buy them as and when you can afford, or need them, and you hang onto them when you decide to buy another Fuji camera. I’ve been there and the X100 cameras are great, but I always wanted something a bit longer, or wider.

@Ex14 Жыл бұрын
I think for alot of photographers lugging around their workhorse gear, the X-T5 is gonna feel "small" and "compact" but honestly for common folk, the X100 size is a better fit for them as it takes up a much smaller space in their bags (given how compct the 23mm lens is on the x100). Im just getting my feet back into photos but even with the 23f2 i cant help but wish my camera (the even smaller X-E1) was more compact, perhaps akin to its size with the 27 f2.8 or 18 f2 lens (but retaining the 23mm f2)

Hey how this combo going for you? Is it portable enough to take it anywhere? And why you like it better than your Sony?
@chair_smesh Жыл бұрын
@@omeryonis5493 yeah it's super portable and the images are beautiful. Although the focus is kinda loud on this lens and not as instant as a Sony, but it's still reliable. I replaced this over my Sony because of it's portability, way smaller size and it looks less clunky when taking portrait photos outside. Also, mainly because of the beautiful Fuji colors. Lightroom includes the film simulations as picture profiles for this camera, so I can just add one of the profiles and edit on top of that. It's so much quicker adding that simulation on a RAW image than trying to get that look in Sony in the first place. Also you can buy an EX-F8 flash if you want to take point and shoot flash style photos at night/parties.
@michaelklein239 ай бұрын
Okay so for myself in 2024 essentially just wanting to upgrade from my iphone camera and having the fuji simulation recipes the x100v/x100vi is more than enough. However they are not available anywhere for retail and in my messed up mind I would feel cheated if I pay what scalpers are asking for. So I'm thinking to get the xt5 which is actually less than the x100vi even with a kit lens (where I'm from) but then having the option to swap out the lens is actually a problem for me cause now the selection process is daunting having all these options and scared I'm eventually going to want them all. The x100vi eliminates that and a couple of adapters would suffice.

I'm probably in that space where I shoot professionally for some things in my landscape photography and some other work that I do, but I'm not a full-time professional photographer but what I hate is changing lenses. I like to be able to go to a shoot with two lenses and not have to change all the time it's quite irritating and given that the sensor is exposed, you end up with a lot of dirt and grime on your sensor which didn't happen with a DSLR. After watching this video and digesting it, I'm probably going to end up getting a second XT5 and get a pancake lens put on it and that can be my walkabout camera.
