X4 Foundations large Xenon vs Split Space battle

I'm not sure if this is a story mission or not, but, whats cool about X4 is that ship battles of this magnitude can happen organically between other factions too. Even without your intervention . I mean, you emerge from a gate right into the middle of a massive war. Its incredible. Container loot time (if you can survive)

My ideea of a fresh start for Coh was to dig up an old 2.6 save in which I had "only" 4 bilions, an working shipyard and xenon are alive :P Even so, there are only 2 xenon shipyards in my universe, so this time around I will not touch any of their factories. Xenon are precious to me :P That being said, I still have my fun, as the latest video on my channel, shows. :)

@@Masher8559 Protect miner against Kha'ak missions, that you can do with your starter fighter, can fetch up to 5kk for 10 minutes work, especialy if prior you take those kill 10 Kha'ak ships for 600k missions. After you gather some credits you can get started with terran vs xenon deliver fleet mission, you get the value of the ships + 50%, some are as simple as delivering 3 corvettes. After that, get your first wharf suplied and you will have your money printing machine ready. Just build messon equipped Katanas and sell them manually, that is 15kk per piece, to this day is my solution for when I'm short on cash.

It’s a super carrier and has the firepower of a fleet itself, even without its fighter wing. It’s the only carrier in the game that actually carries a large fighter wing. The terrans only come in second which is funny. The Tokyo only has like 40 fighters I think.

Its so cool how the xenon tried to reinforce. What would be even cooler, is if they drew off to try and regroup. Like the (mostly crappy) AI in total war games, they will allways try to join their forces unless you prevent them.

I was playing this game 2 years ago. And my ships would be totally destroyed by a single Xenon K. I would have to micromanage them. And builts tons of stations to contain the Xenon. I still try to play sometimes and earn a couple million hoping to get ship production in a few hundred more gameplay hours. But this guys has billions!

Set up mining network and then you will be able to make a RRT capable of containing Xenon where need be, takes a few dozen fighter-bombers really, just need to have proper loadout on them.

This isn't what I expected. I was interested in this game awhile back and for some reason I got a totally different impression. This is much better. Damn & I missed several opportunities to buy this. Graphics are beautiful. Its still on my steam wish list i believe. I subbed to learn more.

​@@greydracoplays I always thought it was the least grindy of the space games. In my first 9 or so hrs I had 7 medium ships all fully upgraded , all mining for me, was making tons of money. Plus, the missions pay a lot of money. Plus the other activities you can do. Elite dangerous and Star Point Gemini and even EVE, are so much more grindy. Sure the end level max shit will take you aw while, and getting to a point where you have a massive influence on the world. But, very early in your playthrough, you can have a L ship fully maxed with some support craft fairly easily. Loving the game. Has many similarities to Mount and Blade in some respects.

Nice battle there, I recommend using some dumbfire missile batteries if you are to figth Xenon K or I...you can use a rattlesnake fitted with only one large dumbfire missile turret and all medium front turrets to fire only vs capital ships (store at least 700h heavy missiles) and go see the fireworks, you wont regret it!

Good idea. Missiles are OP compared to other turrets imo so I started to use plasma to make things a bit more difficult for myself. Also I was testing a fleet composition that does not require any maintenance (other then replenishing dead bombers >.> ).

Well in my case instead of staying in a big ship im always in a HF with some guards to protect me , the fights looks awesome from the little ships prespective and since I used the X4 editor the 8M ships have 80M hull that make wars long and really cinematic

I don't have X4, but for a game with so much going for it in regards to fleet management and combat the weapons visuals and explosions seem so anemic, and there's no visible battle damage at all. They just burp out some fireballs for a few seconds. Watching a bar drop is the only way you know you're even doing damage.

now im fighting that large of Xenon fleet + i downloaded a mod for Extreme fleet from nexus mod. 4 destroyer K and 1 battleship i, and I only go there fight them alone with my asgard, and of course the ATF cannon is upgraded it can 1 shot battleship lmao. i dont even have any fighter or escort + i downloaded a mod for Railgun turret for Terran. so much fun, almost 500 hours into it still not satified.

Interseptors: 5 tau accelerators, bombers: 4 blast mortars and 1 neutron Gatling. Will replace Gatlings with something else, 'cos it kills fps too much and not really effective.

Just curious, how much time did you have invested in this universe? I have a full day in mine and am no where near anything of this scale.

I had at the time of recording around 150 hrs in that save. In my more modern save I achieved bigger trade empire in around 50 hrs. Its all about game knowledge and your pace. This video was from my first save in this game when I took my time exploring and learning the difference between this game and X3. You can get to having big fleets pretty fast if its your target (boarding is the fastest way). Gl with growing your empire :D

@@illusiveman1613 It is more convenient to use blast mortars. Torps do the most dps but are very expensive ( at least timewise) and sometimes require annoying micromanagement (transports for supply ships/carriers have small brains).

What CPU do you have? Looks like it's not even dropping below 30fps. Just got this game yesterday and my ryzen 2600, 2060 super, and I are in an adventure to find out the most optimal settings I can scrounge up for them fps'

I had i7 8700 with high settings and SSAA x2, for me it worked fine. Now I ran same settings but with i7 11800H and 3070M and draw 100 100, but big battles (from SWI) are not really working well, 5-18 fps, this game is not well optimised for 300-400+ ships battle.

How you make your fleet attack like that? No matter what settings i use, my fleet always stand idle next to me

I give attack (targets or area) orders to the flagship that has attack, defense and interceptor groups. Attack group made of destroyers and bombers, defense group made of destroyers and interceptor group made of fighters. I don't steer flagship personally ever. In all space battles that don't involve station siege it is usually more then enough.

I use split ships as well but my finances ingame do not allow me to commit my Raptor or strike group against an entire fleet like that haha. I do not have enough firepower to so casually swat away an I like that yet.

Not only fighters, capital ships too! It took ~20 years for X series to add destructible turrets/shields/engines while it all was in freespace in 1999 (and actually even more destructible parts). And as I remember in freespace fighter combat was much deeper and detailed. But the X4 did an excellent job of simulating a semi-living sandbox microverse to power our space interests. And that's what we all love about this game!

Freespace 2 is a completely different game though. This looks more like a singleplayer version of Eve Online at first glance. In any case, Freespace 2 has a very active modding community that's still going even now that has released tons of custom campaigns and has been working on the game engine to keep it up to date with modern standards, so if you want to play some more go here: www.hard-light.net/

Ok, this dude only show you the battle from the perspective of his carrier, in X4 you can jump in one of the fighters on the docking bay and go straight to combat. And belive me i did play freespace, and as good game as it is, it can't compared with X4.

In X4 you have a whole simulated universe, you could simply go mine with a mining vessel or went in a fighter and play exactly like Freespace, even better since you can even just stay on the cockpit and let the pilot do it job, or you can do as this dude and just do the strategy on the bridge of his carrier. X4 is a more complete game than Freespace.

Well, they are still working on the game, in 6.0 some nice things are being added. Imho battles in x4 are better then in x3 (never played x2) since balance of power shifted to fighters. Surface elements of capital ships can be damaged like turrets engines and shields, it is way less possible to evade heavy turret fire with manual piloting, point defence cant oneshot every fighter in the game, making carrier fleets is now viable. But I agree that combat side of the game could still use a lot of work. Mostly in AI direction.

@@greydracoplays Nice. Do the turrets on the cap ships still target in groups or can a set of turret groups fire at separate targets? In old X3 , you had maybe 6 to 8 clusters of guns but each only focused on one target at time

I once used a raptor fully filled with fighters went to fight xenon and none survived.... Never used fighters again on a carrier only frigates now..... But im considering using fighter equiped with torpedoes for the least big punch especially s ships with lots of weapon slots....

Player fighters are very powerful compared to vanilla Xenon. You can wipe out anything unless it is a Station ( Xenon station will kill every s/m you have).

This 6 year old game lets you build bases, control entire fleets of ships, wage actual wars, incite diplomacy, trade, and so much more. Plus, it lets you walk around inside of your ship and around stations. Starfield, a current generation game that was supposed to allow players to do all of this and much more, fails at letting you do even 90% of this. "2023 game of the year", my ass.
