X90 Chaser/Cresta/Mark II Radio & Shifter Trim Removal

Removing the radio and shifter trims is a straight forward process. Pry the shifter trim starting from the bottom. The cigarette ash tray pulls straight out. There will be 3 phillip screws holding the radio trim at the bottom. Avoid applying too much pressure in one area when removing. Work little by little around the bezel. When you feel like it's asking for too much force, stop and try another side.

did you need any Metra kits, ie wiring harness and mounting brackets? what wiring harness did you use for the radio?

@Corbitt White Yes brackets are needed. Reused the mounting brackets from old radio. Car had an aftermarket radio installed by previous owner. The mounting hardware worked with new radio so just reused it. I also reused the existing main harness connector installed by previous owner. Unfortunately I don't know the brand or part number. The car however has 2 separate antenna wires, one for AM and one for FM. You'll need the 40-UV43 male to female motorolla cable by Metra Electronics to join them into a single plug, and MDAB GM Micro/Delco antenna adapter, because one of the antenna wires is smaller.

@Corbitt White No problem. I got the info about the antenna wires from a 4runner forum. It's possible the main radio harness is the same as any other 90s Toyota/Lexus.👍🏾

Thanks for this. I just got my Chaser a few days ago and couldn't figure it out. Didn't realize the ashtray assembly simply pops right out. Unfortunately my center console trim is cracked in several places, which is a common problem apparently. Cheers!

Glad it helped! A friend of mine just imported a new console trim from Japan, I'll have to ask him how next time I see him. You can also ask for one on facebook JZX groups, I see people posting new ones up every now and then. Best of luck!

@@JZXKenny I actually found them for around $160 shipped from Japan, which seems pretty reasonable for what it is. Not a top priority but maybe I'll get one eventually. I didn't know there is a JZX Facebook group, I'll have to check that out for sure. What's it called?

It's the Atoto A6. It was plug and play with an aftermarket radio harness adapter.
