A lot of these tricks are really handy. Especially the wire glitch, as difficult as it is to do consistently; very useful for getting lights in some places the game doesn't normally allow, though I do notice it doesn't always work. It is a bit annoying that we have to use glitches (or mods) for some things, though. Like flipping some pieces upside down; you'd think there'd just be a button for that, but no. Or being able to pick which teleporter you're using with short range teleporters.

Dude. IDK if I missed the tutorial about the terrain manipulator creating land, but holy smokes. I started a base in a cave awhile back and got upset when I made a hole too deep in a mountain creating a hole. I wished there was a way to patch it I thought. I gave up on the base and moved on. After seeing this I ran back to my base and patched it up. Now I cannot wait to work on that base! Thanks for the info.
@HummingbirdSound4 жыл бұрын
A few of these things changed since the video got out, like the fact that you can use your multitool inside now, so you can deal with terrain that grows back, and even that happens way less now (grass and such can grow through objects, but terrain not so much; it will detect structures and build itself back under them and in some cases around them, but not inside, except if bugged). Also, the inside/outside boundaries have been loosened, since now building a roof on a structure will usually consider the structure is "inside" even if you delete a wall (my garage is as such and I am completly inside when in it even though a whole huge wall is missing). And we have an object which allows us to make wires invisible when not in build mode.

Hey, Xaine. I have seen some cool builds on the NMS subreddit every now and then, one of them being a space station in low orbit (high above the clouds). Is there a height limit to base building? If so, is there a way to get around that height limit? I would really like to try building a space station. Great video, as always. Thanks!
@Kitty-Marks5 жыл бұрын
I love this idea. I know though that there isn't a height limit at least not immediately. After low orbit you get into space and start taking actual damage. However if you built a cuboid room right away as soon as you started taking dmg/getting a warning and you go inside then build with camera mode you might be ok. Let me know

Good to know for sure to everyone out there despite how small an issue it seems.
@-Saitama3 жыл бұрын
I messed around with the one way door and a few tips could be: 1. Put pressure plate before the walls. 2. Put the door inside to minimize space so it won't open from inside. 3. Build it close enough to a portal in a system shown by a youtuber, bases close to portals will still show up you just gotta give it time to load, small bases load up faster.

Indium mining - why? Buy up all the wire looms you can at a station - (min 5.5 million units worth to get going) Station-tele to the next station and do the same until you have as many as you can hold, then go back to that first station. Sell them all, and buy them back. Go to the next station, sell them all and buy them back. Each station your profit goes up (up to selling them causing a negative 81% value, then its the same each time) Assuming random station economies, you should reach 100 million units in about 8 or 9 hops, which is less than 5 minutes. An hour, you should be at the unit cap - half that if you're doing the warps to reach new stations.

@XainesWorld4 жыл бұрын
@@scottishhighlander1602 to an extent yes, though it depends what cap you are on about. All platforms have a save file cap of 20,000 items placed total everywhere for a save, this is an insane amount, my biggest farms are only in the hundreds. If by cap you mean base complexity, this system works in localised spots, so the more concentrated everything is for placement, the more it is affected by it and extending the base out would lower the concentration of parts placed by spreading it out allowing for more to be placed in general. hope that's understandable, and not rambly O.o

NMS bulding has BIG potential but has soo many unpolished aspects it can be very frustrating. you cannot snap elements from diffrent sets, lack of some items that would make building easyer ( straight angle triangle floors). sizes and dimentions of items should be more unified so that everything fits together better (containers size should be 1/2 or full height of a wall for space menagment and stacking ) etc.etc. my fav editor to this day was Far cry 2 map editor.

I've made a different combination lock using 9 push buttons and 3 wall switches, if you input the code in the wrong order it basically wont activate the auto switches. I also set an inverter to reset the combination anytime the wrong button is pressed as you did. The nice thing about using push buttons is that they are wired to not stay lit as you go. Just for the hell of it I also made sure that if the door is powered my vaults are not. I was thinking of making a sort of alarm if the wrong button is pressed, maybe using that strobe system you showed

A 4 by 4 combination lock as you've designed has 65k possible codes, assuming order does not matter. Which is pretty good, not gonna lie. A 5 by 5 would have 3 mil possibilities. If you could design it in such a way that order mattered, a 16 digit lock would have 5 * 10^13 possibilities. This guy on youtube "The Gamer in Me" has a more complicated method, using push buttons that creates order dependence. With just 10 buttons, this creates almost a 10 mil possible combinations. A 9 digit code in 16 digit order independent also only has 11k possibilities. Order independent peaks at the mid value of digits, so longer codes are not better. 8 has the largest number of possible values. A 9 digit code in 10 digit order dependent has 3 mil possibilities. Order dependence is probably absolute overkill, but the point is that it's the better code system. If you can figure out how to do it right that is.

Anyone else getting a glitch where all wiring and connected equipment can no longer be snapped to with the wiring tool? This basically means you have to replace and rewire everything effected. The work around I have found is using lights as points to lay out my wiring. So, always run the wires to a light rather than just any random point. When the glitch happens you can't use the wiring tool to continue your wiring from any point but you can place a new light at any point you have previously created. This light will attach to the previous point and this point then becomes usable again allowing you to continue wiring from there. Hope this helps someone. Not even seen HG mention this one yet and it's really destructive for anyone with complex wiring. On PS4 Pro BTW.

I did not upload base but I did log off and back on as well as jump to another system to buy more materials before coming back and trying to finish base. In any case, i don't think it is working like it used to. My first base that required power right after Beyond was released I used this method with no problem to power the base. Automatic doors are bugged.. You set the system up and after a while or a log out it stops working becoming open or shut forever.. The inverter outlets on the door stop working too.. If you try to attach energy on them, it doesn't show the power icon.

I'm going to just uh... Push the big red button here. I've done gone through a PLETHORA of your videos. I even accidentally encountered one of your public survival mode facilities at one point on pc here. Number 20 on this was what I came here for, for my landing pad placement.

Does the PC version allow you to change the size of the pointer? It would be great if it was larger, because the small one is difficult to see sometimes. This would help because most of the time you say “connect THIS to THAT and go HERE... etc” while constantly moving the tiny pointer. It is difficult to follow to determine what THIS, THAT, HERE means without seeing the pointer clearly. Just a suggestion.

For #20 (snapping parts upside down) I'm trying to get some half arches to snap upside down but there's a candelabra bush in the menu between my pipe and paver. Anyone know of a workaround?

Aww ;-; and I was proud of placing a portal directly inside of an ancient portal, too bad no-one can see it. It even works when the portal is activated ofcource.
