The first battle has us playing as Zhuge Dan. He shares the fan moveset so he's not much different from Sima Yi, though his musou's aren't as good. It's a pretty simple first battle, we just take over the castle, stop an ambush, then go back to going after the enemy.
The second battle lets us use Wang Yuanji, who uses the throwing knives. A lot of people like her moveset, I kinda don't. The enemies not flinching for most of the attacks never sat right with me. She's not bad though. EX and air musou are really good. Second battle is a big rescue mission, where you have to save Zhuge Dan and other officers.

I think the tradeoff with Yuanji's knives is supposed to be that, while enemies don't flinch from her attacks, she builds up her Musou bar at an alarmingly fast rate. Though her knives still take some getting used to.

Scuttlest Yeah it is, in other games she fills up special bars incredibly fast. She can be ubtouchable in WO3 just by abusing the TTA bar with how fast she regaibs it.

I love Zhuge Dan in 7 more than 8. He's far more stricter and badass. DW8-9 made him into a softie. Also, he sounds like Nazeem from Skyrim.

Zhuge Dan may serve the Sima family but His personal vendetta to the Simas, especially a doof like Sima Zhao, there’s gonna be problems

Zhao is no doof. He’s just as talented as Shi is, he uses his fool persona as a mask to hide his true abilities and talents. As a 2nd son, he knows his place is to not outshine or compete with his brother or else it will sow division and instability in their family and the nation. One shouldn’t follow Liu Biao’s or Yuan Shao’s fate.

@@DJSpike-ft9yw you’re correct regarding it and I suspect the Battle of Dongxing was not only Wu’s military victory against the Sima family but use as an opportunity for both better and worst how it’s played out.

I think Yuanji's EX attack makes up for the Throwing Knives weaknesses somewhat. But poor Zhurong... well, maybe I should save my grievances with Zhurong for the WO3 playthrough, since they'll be more relevant there.

I don’t like Sima Zhou in 7 as opposed to 8. They push the laziness factor way too far in the former.

No I actually like him way better in 7 than 8 because in 8 koei took away most of his development and gave it to jia Chong

@@Moonslayer01 I meant that I didn’t like how they handled his laziness and the transition to a more responsible leaderin the beginning of the Jin Storyline in 7. Should’ve clarified that. And I didn’t say he was worse in 7. I just prefer him in 8 for at least being more consistent... and of course that was going to happen in 8 since Jia Chong was introduced in 8. It was probably more noticeable with him compared to other new characters because, being part of the smaller Jin roster, there were less characters (compared to the other rosters) to focus on to distract from that, especially since the other new Jin Characters had less of a place in the story (Chenhua stops showing up pretty early on outside of the hypothetical route, and the drama with Wen Yang and his family lasts for only three missions, two in the Hypothetical since it would’ve been resolved in the Hypothetical version of the Uprising in Xuchang which is before the start of hypothetical route).
