The first diagonal is so difficult but it tells us what the rest of the variation will be like. It was a very good start and I said to myself ", this is going to be good". And it was. XP has beautiful arms, gorgeous feet, a huge plié, tremendous lines. He conveyed just the right sense of desperation. We will forgive the slightly unsteady landing at 0:32 and just missing the Willi at 0:42! These things happen. It's a pleasure to view the collection of XP videos on KZbin.

what the royal ballet's lost is mariinsky's gain. he's the fast rising british dancer the royal ballet produced but never had because they kept focusing on foreign dancers.

I think at the ROH he was not ready yet to move ahead. It still took him still a few years in Russia to become a principal. He would have become that too at ROH.

@@hrh4961 Tseskaridze couldn't jump to save his life. It's one of the most important characteristics of a male ballet dancer, especially for the principal. However, I would give that up for his hair too))
