Not sure why there is so much complaining about this. I can't remember any time in the history of wow that there wasn't some advantage with different class mechanics and 50 posts crying about it. There is gonna be a shitstorm from BFAby's when classic rolls in. Yes the Mage's heals were really strong but take notice he really couldn't do both enough dps to quickly take him down and face heal. Of course the Mage kited, it's what a Mage does and very well. Watching these two is more of a chess game to see who makes a slip or eventual odds are negative RNG for you

If xaryu hasn’t hit 3000 rating he’s come extremely close. He is a phenomenal mage player. It’s a lot easier to make a spec look better than it actually is when you can play the class to its highest level. His kiting, disengage, and resets had to be absolutely perfect to not get absolutely shit on. I’d be amazed if you found any arcane mages with high arena ratings.
