Now that you mentioned it, I actually think "the Universe" applied Karma to Xar here, because he didn't want to admit that Tethis would have actually killed him, if that human paladin hadn't helped him directly. So "the Universe" waited with the butterfly effect until he reached lvl 59, then decided to kill him with "just" two mobs, applying Karma to the maximum extent and trolling him at the same time. In fact, in this video you can actually feel the exact moment when "the Universe" decided to end his borrowed time and applied Karma, it starts here at 44:49, when Xar talks about how terrible it would be to die at 59, and immediately after he even slightly goes in panic mode and feels he has to run away from the Plaguelands as soon as possible.

For others that might do the high elf quest, you can skip the two 60 mobs for the registry by binding your interact key, and standing on the outside of the building hugging the wall facing the registry and spamming the interact key to pick it up

When you have DOTs on you that are going to kill you, running won't save you. You won't have time to get out of combat. You'll need to kill the mobs, get out of combat, and start consuming high-level food. At 59, though,you should have whipperroot tubers from felwood (heals 700-900, shares a cool down with health stones), which would have saved you. Needlesstosay, these mobs are the ones Sardaco was warning you about, they count for 2 mobs when you consider a pull. Two zero-GCD spells + massive DOTS, one of the toughest non-elite mobs you'll run into at level.

Not sure how those tubers would have saved him when they share CD with his health pots and he had already used a superior pot which also is 700-900... What would have saved him is if he used the higher lvl pots that he had.

One thing I've learned in hardcore is to never be afraid to use your best potion. You can always make more. Always better to use it and not end up needing to, than to save it and die. Even the high level healing pots aren't that expensive. Hell, I think I'm going to take the old ones off my bar now. In this case, the higher pot would have absolutely saved him. I'm guessing he didn't have sticky glue.

Then you ventured into Ruins of Andorhal and my heart just sank. Nothing good comes out of Andorhal.
