Btw I'm gonna give some insight on his old setup... Here in Venezuela, and especially in Maracaibo, where he's from (And myself), 90% of computer stores sell refurbished PCs. Most are these Dell or HP miniPCs or microatx computers. They are basically second hand machines that they sell cheaper. Since salaries are awful, most entry-level gamers buy these PCs because that's what they can afford, then they buy an extra low profile GPU to play games like WoW, Lineage II, Runescape and so on to earn a few bucks on the side, which can mean a higher income than a regular minimum salary. I was one of those people, back in 2017. I lived ENTIRELY through farming adena (the game's currency) on Lineage II Private Servers. Russian, Greek and Brazilian players would buy the currency to pimp out their characters, then once the server "died", we hopped to a new one. Farming adena made me 3 times the salary I would get in an office job (we have the lowest indexed minimum salary in south america, and one of the worst in the world). That doesn't make people "bots" or mindless farmers. These are people that are earning a living, improving their families' lives and they're ACTIVE players, not bots. They kill bots actually, to fight for spots and stuff. It's the sad truth. There's a lot of people that are stinking up games with their horrible bot farms and gold farming schemes, but a huge portion of them are people living in precarious conditions on third world countries, just trying to make a living.

As a Venezuelan I can confirm, that's 100% true and it keeps going, I did some of that myself a few years back (that's not a recent thing to be honest :( ) when warlords of draenor was current content I would make 5x my monthly salary (I was an entry level engineer back then) selling gold (with almost no effort thanks to the garrisons)

When I was 16 in 2005, I was the GM of a PvP guild. At some points my parents were tired of me playing the game, and I couldn’t afford to pay my subscription. There was a dwarf hunter in my guild, who was the dad of 2 kids and was 35 years old, that I was helping pretty often in the game. he offered to pay a whole year for me! I couldn’t believe it at the moment, I miss these type of genuine connection with people! For Mingle!

It's kinda funny how that happens. I was 18 in 2005 and had similar issues, or rather my life was super unstable at the time. These days, I'm the old guy in his late 30s, and I've had a few guildies, a few raid guys who were in my shoes now, young and broke, can't afford the game, both in Wow and FF14. So I would cover their subs from time to time. $15 doesn't mean the world to me like it did back then. It feels good being able to do that for people when they need it. When they're older maybe they'll pay it forward to some struggling guy just wanting to have a little fun in a game they love

@@Adirtan Naaaaah. I've been playing WoW for 20 years + 1 year in beta. The game was set up to where you had talk with people and a reputation that would follow you around. It wasn't as easy to hit level cap back then and it surely wasn't as easy to get good gear, so your words and actions, no matter how populated the server was, followed you. You were stuck talking with people to do *anything at all*. Social anxiety? Get over it, because you needed to talk on Ventrilo or Teamspeak to raid, but to even get in those raids, you had to talk with people, organize things, get stuff straight manually. There was enough local interaction to even form blacklists for people who were toxic in raid. There was no meeting stone, group finder, flying. Nothing.
