When doing interview as important as this, you need to make sure that your guest explains events in chronological order by year, for example, what year he started his career, when did he first meet VP and why did they fight the communists, when did he know that VP was going to leave Laos, when and why did he become a Chaofa, when did he leave for Thailand, where's the 11K people he oversaw in Mt. Phoubia, why did he only bring 50 to Thailand, when did he come to America, etc.
