Funnily enough, the 3-quadrant RRoD *does* have an error code attached to it. When it happens, if you hold the console sync button (as though you're hooking up a wireless controller) and tap the disc eject button, the lights will change. You can extrapolate a number based on how many lights are flashing each time you press eject (up to four digits, before it goes back to the ring error). I think it was the XDA scene which tried to decrypt what the codes meant. Of course, that information only helps people who open the console up themselves. To a layperson, it all just means "find a cardboard box and send the console away for two months", though.

Well if you didint know sometime the 3 leds are cause by the dvd drive or sometimes something wrong on the motherboard or in another case the CPU and/or the gpu has desoldered from the System itself and you will need to resolder the gpu and or CPU to the motherboard

The RRoD (3 ring) not only has a error code but it also means it cannot communicate with a component (NOT MULTIPLE). By holding the sync and tapping the eject button you should be able to see what it cannot communicate with via a 4 digit code it gives you. 1 ring = 1, 2 = 2, 3 = 3, 4 = 0. Take 1023 for an example, it usually means it cannot communicate with an ethernet-related component. The error itself is because of bad GPU design in the soulder balls. When you said the ventilation error was the rarest, it's actually the most common for my old Xbox 360. Every time it would overheat with 2 red rings and crash, you would boot it up again and it would display this message.

5:55 I actually got this error when trying to fix my 360 S. It had a false overheating issue that required replacing some resistors on the motherboard with jumper wire. After removing them, the wire I got was as thin as a hair string and I couldn't solder it because it was so damn small. I eventually just used solder instead of wire since it has the same effect. Doing this sort of fixed the issue. Instead of just instantly overheating, the Xbox turned on this time and showed me this error, which was then followed by the fans going into maximum overdrive and the console shutting off. I just gave up and bought a series X

0:17 it could also happend on the Efuse system, if you changed to an older firmware of the system or an efuse somehow didn't explode, on the xbox 360/one/futher consoles. The Efuse is a tint thing in the motherboard on the cpu of the console, every time you update the console, one of the efuses explodes, making the console not be able to go back to an old firmware, because every time you turn on the conosole, the system checks the firmware version with the amount of Efuses exploded, the firmware number is superior than the firmware (1 efuse exploded = 2.0), if the check fails: the console will self brick

Going to add some information to this old video, the 3 ring is the most common one because of the bad GPU design but the GPU design got better for each motherboard version and jasper being the most reliable board. The slims and E can be diagnosed with secondary error code which is achieved by pressing the eject and sync button to get a combination of blinks

The one ring is honestly most commonly a broken hard drive that is if you haven’t modified your console. And also 3 rings is almost always the gpu or cpu solder (usually gpu). Also you forgot the Christmas lights rrod it’s where the console is In manufacturing mode and I don’t think there’s a way to fix it. If you wanna see a video look up Christmas lights rrod. The overheating errors are actually really easy to get if your willing to possibly damage your console all you have to do is put a q tip or anything to block the fans and then wait for the 2ring of death.

I have a PHAT 360 from 2008. My external HDD on the top is only 20GB. I have three drives I am testing to use as a replacement. A 500GB, a 160GB formerly used on a Chromebook, and a Xbox 360 Slim drive with 320GB. The 500GB didn’t detect (too large for it to handle), the 160GB gave me 1 Ring E 68, and the Slim drive should work fine (trying to crack it open)

I know the video is a little old, but there's some misinformation here. 1 ring does not always mean hardware failure. This is a common misconception. The error shown in the video, E 68, is a failure to load the dashboard. This can be caused by a faulty update from Microsoft, corrupted code, or random circumstance. 2 rings is strictly overheating or a dead fan. 3 rings, you were so close. It is *not* the most common by any means, however, it was given the most attention by media as it always means total hardware failure. Most commonly, this was a dead hard drive, or the classic issue with the GPU in the original Xenon model. I hope this helped! In addition: E 74 is about the equivalent of the red ring o' doom. That's a dead xbox.
