Xbox 360 E 74 GPU Repair and Zeus to Kronos Upgrade

In this video, Josh repairs a Jasper motherboard with the E 74 error and upgrades it to the Kronos GPU.

I noticed an error... Kronos targets 75C not 73C, but still, my point is valid, no need to change the targets. ALSO, we learned there are no 80nm silicon for Xbox 360. Those people were wrong, it's actually 90nm still but an improved design.

After watching this, it makes me happy that my late 2009 model jasper that I had since May of 2010 has never broke down on me once. I have NEVER heard about a Jasper having the red ring of death until I watched this video, and I'm glad that you were able to bring it back to life because in my personal opinion, Jasper model consoles are the best and the most reliable consoles in the whole 360 lineup, and mine will always be my primary 360. :)

late 2009s are almost 100% kronos models, only thing you really need to worry about is bad caps which probably wont happen (though ive seen some with the shitty ass sanyo caps so it can)

I use around 320-340°C, 420°C for GND. Also, I use the A/V port shielding for GND since it's way easier and avoids applying lots of heat directly to the motherboard

Can you please show me how to replace the ICS ethernet chip? Mine might gone faulty/dead since system can't detect a plugged in cable. No LEDs on the switch either. Can it be something else that has blown up or shorted? Xbox works fine otherwise as far as I know. There was a lightning strike, power cord was unplugged but not the ethernet cable. So it took out the router and some other stuff as well. Please help. I have two spare ICS1893 chips. In case of that is the issue. I really don't know how to diagnose this. I have Schematics and Ellegro boardview files for Jasper V2/Kronos as this board are one. Xbox 360 Elite

You can remove with hot air and install via drag soldering.

Hi man, I tried to fix my old Xenon 360 a couple months ago, back in the day I tried the towel trick and it worked for a couple of weeks, but I wanted to do a clean repair this time by cleaning it with IPA, changing thermal paste, pads, but it didn't worked. I saw your channel and website and I would like to know if you offer your services? I would like to swap the GPU of my 360 and switch to the Jasper 1 which I think is the most reliable.. Switching the Jasper one on Xenon is very complex board procedure which is not offered by me at this time, takes too long. I have a video on that on my channel. Right now, I am not offering any services due to that I am very busy with university.

Hey Josh/Octal what other differences have in the kronos revision than the jasper v1 ? Is the GPU changed heatsing to the original from xenon model actually better ? or worse ? or it doesnt matter at this point ? What other changes are present ? (even small ones)

Kronos revision: - shrunk eDRAM to 65nm - Removed unused "DUMBO" and other unused pads/circuits from board - Added optional redesigned standby power 3.3 and 1.8 volt circuits, some vendors used it, some used old - New RF/ROL module "XFreedom", probably cheaper to make, don't know other differences about it - Return to the original GPU heatsink, as the extended heatsink was only added to quiet the fans, this was no longer needed. These are all nice the differences I have noticed so far unless I am forgetting something.

And also curious why some people think the extended heatsing have bigger effect on the kronos GPU and have swapped the heatsink with the extended one. I've watched some videos here and there and even some advices on reddit for other people to do so.

No, I can't. This stuff is very specific from setup to setup, things I do may not apply to another setup. Also, this is difficult and usually requires proper training.

@@Josh.Davidson someone in the world with failed kronos ? even this is a long shot.. however that's why I have 2 kronoses :P 1 used actively since 2011 and other one brand new waiting some day to be put in use haha. It's even a miracle I found brand new kronos on ebay in 2018 .. for the small price of 140 GBP or around 180$ and of course bought it.
