I think that Spiderman 2 has a higher floor than Starfield but a lower ceiling. The Playstation exclusive formula is simple and works, plus the Spiderman IP will drive its success on its own. Starfield has more potential to be bad, but it also has more potential to be a generational game, just like Skyrim. People still talk about Skyrim that came out a billion and a half years ago but barely anyone talks about Spiderman, which came out in 2018. My money is on Starfield being the better game when all is said and done

The game also boosted in popularity by being tied to Playstation and the Spiderman IP; both are way bigger than the Elder Scrolls franchise. haven't replayed it but I can see that, especially if you are trying to 100% the game. The map activities are laughable. I think you need to stop over 200 identical crimes plus collect all 50 backpacks and a ton of other Ubisoft-tier garbage. Main story was great except for the heavy reliance on stealth sections with MJ or Miles

Lol, that type of game has had a great amount of appeal and success to gamers worldwide. Do you really believe PS could be in the position it is today without single player titles like Spider-Man and God of War. In fact, I would argue it is because of those type titles that put PS as the market leader in consoles. Instead of downplaying the single player game success perhaps some gamers should look at the things those type titles do right and why they are so popular. I promise you Xbox is actively looking at them.

Spiderman 2 will be popular on PlayStation, Starfield will be popular on PC and Xbox (because Spiderman 2 isnt coming to those platforms and vice versa, not everyone has all consoles and/or PC). Spiderman hype will last for a few months, Starfield will last for a good 12 months or more. They are really two completely different games that have different audiences.

Even if they had the capital, would they be allowed to buy it? Surely the arguments and therefore rules sets in place in the ABK merger would hold in a Sony - Take 2 merger. More so since Sony are the market leader. Therefore it'd be 10 year GTA contracts at a minimum for that sale to happen. Even MS would be struggling to buy another huge publisher after ABK from a regulatory point of view.

Those rights belong to Disney, as it was a licensing agreement with Activision... They'd have to get permission from MARVEL/ Disney in order to drop Spider-Man 2 the game, which won't happen. Lol It's the reason it took years for games like Marvel vs Capcom 2 to get released. Capcom definitely wanted it, but Marvel was denying it for years.

What IP would everyone like to see Xbox use. I'd love a new pitfall game in the style of Tomb Raider Reboot and Uncharted. With a hint of the early resident evil games. I thinking Crocodiles jumping out of rivers the way those zombie dogs jumped through the windows. A Microsoft Mascot Melee game or Kart racer with Ori, Crash, Spyro, Banjo and Kazooi, Conker. Hell even throw in Ty the Tazmanian Tiger if that Activison IP. Bring back Gun. Just make a Red Dead clone.

Well, we have the one that inspired it all, Indiana Jones, coming soon to Xbox for the Tomb Raider/Uncharted fix. So I don't think Pitfall will be necessary, even though that'd be very surprising and cool. But a MS Smash Bros clone or Kart Racer is what I really want. Forget the artstyle consistency, I want Master Chief, Senua, and Doomguy fighting face to face against Chai, Banjo, Crash, and Spyro in a video game. That would be awesome lol.

Spiderman will be overshadow by Starfield. It's going to get headlines and a lot of attention, and I bet it's going be a great game with superior graphics, but it's a one and done "movie" style experience. People talk about it, get excited and then it's over. Yeah, that quote in the document about “total foreclosure of COD will not hurt Sony” kinda opens the door for partial foreclosure without regulatory issues. There are 3 studios making COD mainline entries. Without a deal in place, & who’s fault is that (?), Xbox could make 1/3 of COD game’s exclusive. Why does Xbox always have to be the one that gives in? Sony are the market leader FFS, how about they offer some of their exclusive IP’s to Xbox in exchange? Reducing total exclusivity to timed exclusivity in some cases is good for everyone. It’s the total entitlement from Twitter PS fanboys that grates. I don't think Microsoft is gonna be a good guy with FTC. And with Sony at this point. There is no benefit of it anymore - FTC clearly showed that they oppose MSFT's deal in bad faith and Sony - no comments. MSFT won't place nice with both of those anymore. Both Sony and FTC wasted too much of MSFT's time - and MSFT tried to be nice with them in the first place.

I don't look at games like DOOM, CoD and Halo and think "oh they follow the same formula" because they are all FPS's with a story. Spider-Man and Last of Us have nothing in common outside of their camera angles. Uncharted and God of War have nothing in common. Horizon ZD/ FW have nothing in common with Ratchet & Clank RA, RETURNAL, Ghost of Tsushima or Demon Souls Remake. If your major complaint is that they are story driven then you'd have to lobby that criticism to nearly every game in the last 2 generations that aren't made by Nintendo. You guys are regurgitating talking points to diminish PS's titles, when the angle you're taking doesn't even make factual sense. To say that people are "getting fatigued" when God of War RAGNAROK is seeing that level of critical and commercial success and Spider-Man 2 is one of the most anticipated titles of 2023 doesn't gel with reality either. You're creating a narrative that only exist in fanboy circles. The majority of people still want and prefer Sony's "formula".

@@NinjaSquirrel30 You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. I've played WoW since Vanilla. WoW is not FF14. WoW is simply not viable in a console format. The primary reason however why you will never see WoW on consoles is because of addons. You need access to the game files in order to use addons, weak auras and custom UI's. You can't do that on a console. If you play WoW without a lot of that stuff, nobody will want to play with you if you don't have especially DBM. Your entire position is coming from ignorance to how WoW works.

They will do what Sony does; everything going be on a 1 year exclusive at release to gamepass only. After the year is up it will go to Epic, Steam and Sony, As Randal correctly figured games that are exclusive multiplayer and predatory in nature like CoD trash will be released day 1 or 90 day cool off on Sony. Just for the fact that is what Sony does with their IP. Give it a decade and Sony will sell to Microsoft as well. Sony is a dead system; I would not invest in it. Even Epic is in a better position than Sony.

Whenever anyone talks about the next likely big pub acquisition for Japan, they immediately go to Capcom, Sega, maybe Namco. Pubs that are on the up and doing great... That doesn't seem consistent with Xbox's MO to me. Square would be the obvious target, another industry giant who is struggling to meet the demands of their shareholders instead of just making great games. They might welcome Xbox's intervention. It would also shake loose this nonsensical stranglehold that Sony has on them.

If I was a KZbin game reviewer, I would throw ethics and credibility out the window and aim for the most bias, off the wall, comedic insanity possible. You need people to be there for you, not (yet another) droning, b-tier, blathering on about systems and details tuber that's one step away from an automated voice over. I think if you bring a lot of personality and humour, you get people going through your old reviews. Probably not possible if you're attached to a credible organization. In which case I'd go for more gimmicks, comparisons, ratings after 1 hour, after 5 hours, when finished.. gamers are basic, they love those numbers, charts and comparisons... Look at digital foundry comparing frame rate dips in one 2 second part of a 30 hour game, that looks identical unless your 8x zoomed on all systems. Biggest waste of time ever, but gamers lap it up.
