It is so crazy to me to see the amount of gaming content creators that have absolutely no clue how far Sea of Thieves has come since launch. Kinda Funny, Angry Joe, The Act Man, YongYea, etc. all stopped paying attention after their rocky launch (which I totally get)... BUT to have not paid this game it's dues is absurd because what they've done is an even bigger turn around than No Man's Sky, IMO... Like, when Andy said "ahhh, a little campaign action," None of the other hosts came back with "well theres actually 40+ hours of campaign already," which is crazy to me. SoT is a GREAT game in 2021, especially if you haven't played for a while, or at all. Am I the only one who notices this trend amongst creators on KZbin?

It's because most content creators can't cover everything. There's new games to play and review, there's industry news to cover, there's the games they're invested in. It kind of needs RARE or MS to do a better job in advertising and promoting the ongoing changes. If nothing else NMS popped up every 6 months or appeared on a Sony stage once a year and said hello, this is the state of NMS today. They got the word out how much they've worked on it. So Greg and co certainly wouldn't have played it but would say, oh yeah I hear it's really good now and has loads of new features. Then say we should play it again, yet never do lol. I don't really see SoT doing that. Like this is the first one I've seen in a long time and tbh I didn't think they did a good job. 95% of people watching will roll their eyes at Captain Jack Sparrow and think it's a cash grab tie in with Disney and subsequently depreciating their interest even more.

@@Hoopla10 But the thing is Sea of Thieves is massively popular. It is still top 10 on Steam's best seller charts and has A Very Positive review average out of OVER 100,000 reviews. Not to mention the massive player base on Game Pass and the strong streaming community around it. Again, I don't think people know what they're talking about when they speak on SoT, including you (no offense intended.) You may have a point that Microsoft hasn't done enough to show the game's progress, but I think the real problem is the over all stigma that Xbox games carry. That stigma is deserved after the last decade, but that shouldn't mean that people should just write a game off without actually experiencing it (not implying the KF crew was writing it off here.) Also, Rare has done a great job, just look at the SoT youtube Channel and Twitter. There are regular update videos with high view counts and great like:dislike ratios.

@@killerconman311 Yeah I'm not really talking about how good the game actually is or how many people play it. The variety of games these content creators actually play is really really really small. I play Escape from Tarkov, Hunt: Showdown, these guys have literally never mentioned them once as far as I'm aware. Until Andy got into Bloodborne these guys would dismiss any FromSoft game without a seconds thought. Millions play LOL, DOTA etc and you wouldn't know they existed if you only watched these YTers. They cover a narrow section of gaming. And that's fine. It's kind of what's great about supporting small channels that do focus on a genre or just a single game we love. As long as they don't make off-hand dismissals or false claims that aren't based on actual knowledge. That part of your post I 100% agreed with because that's also annoyed me about them in the past. I don't know about MS stigma tbh. If anything there's a "games as a service" stigma these days. It wasn't helped that MS had a run of these games a while back (around SoT's release). I've played a lot of State of Decay (1 and 2) and by the second game it felt like people were quick to dismiss it as just another gaas game.

I think they don't talk about it because they don't play it and they don't play it because the base game left them bored. Sure they've added a whole lot but you're still in a live world with other players that can come and grief you whenever they want, the only thing you unlock are cosmetics and there is absolutely not progression or leveling up. I really think those are the reasons why a lot of people watch SoT have all this success but still don't play it. Just because a game is popular and successful doesn't mean everyone will play it or even enjoy it. The campaign missions will bring in new people for sure because nothing sells as well as Disney these days but just like every other game that player base will drop off and will fade to the next game that grabs everyone's attention.

@@mgmd.324 So Starfield showed nothing and is 1.5 years away. Halo I don’t feel good about but it could be good. Stalker 2 looks cool but nothing mind blowing. The stuff that stuck out the most as cool to me Was OW 2, the Pirates of the carribean sea of thieves crossover and the two new IPs, but still only one of those things seemed to be coming soon. There also just wasn’t any “oh shit” moment for me.

I'm a PS fan as I enjoy narrative games but as an unbiased one, I agree with you on the 2022 point from seemingly fanboys. E3 is about hyping fans with great announcements regardless of when they come out like Sony have done in the past. However, while I do think it was a good showing from Xbox, nothing was mind blowing so I don't think it was as good as some are making it out to be. To be clear, I also wasn't entirely impressed by the PS5 event last year as I thought it was too many sequels and predictable.

I’m so happy to say that this conference was amazing. The best conference they have ever done by far and finally made me excited about owning a series x. I feel like for a long time they have been trying to do what Nintendo and Sony do by resting on established IP but I think they realized they don’t really have that and they showed me stuff that was dope and I didn’t know about. The only one I actually have an interest in is Redfall so I don’t feel nearly as bad as I did being an Xbox player last Gen seeing all PlayStation players getting every good game and us getting Gears and? Yeah just Gears. So I switched to PS5. I’m glad they are getting games and Gamepass actually being worth it now but too bad it’s a little to late for this consumer. I’ll just have to watch someone play Redfall on twitch or something it’ll be fine. Halo hasnt interested me in years nor do a lot of the Bethesda games…but I’m happy for those who love those types of games.

They showed nothing of Starfield except a really small cinematic of somebody in a spaceship (in a game we already knew would be in space). Why you guys got excited for that confused me. They must have some idea of gameplay they could have showcased a montage of. Give us some idea what it's about. For all we know this could be like No Mans Sky. They literally show no actual gameplay of Halo's campaign, like wtf? The date will be late November, it doesn't matter. But why aren't they showing actual gameplay? Where's the gameplay to most of this? And where are their actual first party games. It all feels way way off, somewhere around 2023 and beyond. Forza looked like Forza, so that's great. If it was just a showcase of games, it was brilliant but for a XBOX showcase it's a bit crap tbh. It's clear how much they're pushing all in for gamespass because that's what the showcase was really about. Which I can't say I'm happy about tbh.
