I’ve had my elite series 2 controller for two years, and I am very grateful that I got the extended two-year warranty through Microsoft because I have had to send this damn thing in no less than nine times in that two years to have various issues worked on, quite often they would send it back in exactly the same condition and I would have to send it back AGAIN to have it finally fixed. I made the mistake of buying a Chevy Malibu in 2014 and that car has been nothing but a pain in the ass. We’ve had to take it to be worked on numerous times in the intervening years before getting rid of it…in my opinion, the Elite controller is the Malibu of controllers. Seems nice on the outside but the extra work that has to be constantly done to keep it running isn’t worth it in the long run. That’s my take.

@@stephenprice9635 I took care of the car just fine, but on the other hand, I’ve known three people that have also owned the 2014 edition of the Malibu and every one of them have complained about how often they had to take it in to be worked on same as me…anecdotal perhaps but it goes to show that not every Malibu is a “fine car“. I certainly haven’t found that to be the case just like with the elite controller.

I have also had the same issue I had the elite controller back in 2018 and it broke in less than a year. Then I got the series 2 in 2020 and it broke in less than a year. Controllers that expensive should last.

They aren't a issue, that's how it is because of the adjustable tension , so the way it's made the stick has a little bit of wiggle. Now I know your the reason why there are so many open box or used Xbox elite, because people keep buying them and returning it because of thibgs like that

Bought an elite core about a year ago. Exchanged it for two more controllers cuz the face buttons were not registering every press I had. I decided to suck it up cuz the controller has a lot of great features and I love using paddles (I had paddles from original elite controller). After a few months my RB was registering about 30-50% of the presses I would attempt. So that was the final straw. I was hoping to find that Microsoft improved some of the very basic features like the buttons working. But it seems folks are still complaining about the same problems as they have the last couple years. Such a shame cuz the controller has so many awesome features and a real “premium” feel to it. That all being said… I still might try getting another one cuz I can’t go back to standard.

I’ve had mine for a bit and I absolutely love it. I think not having the kit is making you miss one of the best details though. And it’s the wireless charging pad. The paddles are nice too, but the charging pas is where it’s at dude. I just my controller on the charger every night when im done, and no matter how much i play the next day it isn’t dead. It’s great bro. Also the paddles make a big difference. Not really for effieciency for me because im a bit of a casual, but for standardizing my controls. Example, i have profiles set up for halo, and for fallout 4. my paddles are set to jump, melee, reload, and change weapon, in the same spots on both games. And while yes i know i can do the same thing without the paddles, doing it with the paddles means i dont have to move the A button. So it doesn’t make menu navigation a hassle.

This controller is pretty amazing my girlfriend actually bought me an elite controller 2 from the design labs it's a little more expensive but worth it Only one problem your paying a lot of money it could take up to 4 weeks to arrive that's a little bit of a problem especially paying that much money for a controller it didn't have opinions for faster shipping

Can you Map the buttons to things that aren't 1 click? For example the Map on Witcher 3 (game I just started). I have to open the "start" and then select the Map option in the menu. With the new back buttons can you Map it to that particular thing?

I dont think so, because this is something called macro. This has been looked down on heavily by microsoft as people use it to get unfair advantages in fighting, fps, and even mmo games. There are kits you can get that allow for this, like strike packs, but most have been banned from use on xbox. And thank god too because most players are using this shit in competitive hames like cod, valorant, siege, etc and ruining the competitive part of it completely. Haveing the device do a complete button combo for you in one press is bs and shouldnt be needed unless youre actually handicapped. I understand why uou would want it for a single player convienence tho, and id have no issue with them impementing some kind of smart feature that can detect if youre playing an online competitive game like cod vs a single player game like the witcher.

I have had 2. Both developed stick drift about a year out. I watch videos to try and fix it and the drift returned. To have it professionally fix it’s $100 per stick. It’s a very nice controller but not worth the money for its longevity.

I purchased thinking I could use my existing Microsoft Xbox controller stand charge but I can not and will be returning it. It feels heavier and nice in the hand, but barely, and I like my stand charger. It sits on my desk, looks good, and is convenient. Sure, this controller comes with a charger built into the carrying case, but that is not something I would have on my desk. Also, the built-in batteries are not a good idea for longevity. My battery-charged controller is smooth on the back. I don't know what that statement is referring to. I thought I would try it because it was on sale, and I am glad I did, but with all the reported issues and limited charging options I will keep my older Xbox controller that works fine.

I'm assuming the Halo Infinitely heavy play is what did it in, butt who knows. The stick drift is also always to the right. It may be my specific style of play as that's a pretty consistent result.

All gamepads will get stick drift after 1k-1.5k hours of use, even the elite controller, switch, and quest controllers. The stick mechanism uses cheap parts.

I have my Xbox 1 elite controller about 5 years now. Only in the past 6 months I droppen it from a 2 meter high closet two times. Only the buttons came loose but they still work. Only a small thing is rattling inside lol. But it survived two huge falls. Yesterday I made my elite controller in the design lab. I think the $23-30 difference between a core Elite model with all the attachments and the complete self designed elite controller is not a big difference at all. I luckily have back up parts from the old model that I will use, except for the triggers that dont work on the 2 models

I give this controller a 8/10. Its the highest on controllers I have rated yet. Reason 8/10 is because of the 6-8 months of use before it messes up. Thats if you take care of your shit like I do. Also it doesn't have gyroscope, which no Xbox competitive controller I know of does I know if for Xbox. This is where xbox is lacking behind PS. Get your shit together Xbox. I love this controller. Its good for MMO FPS games. Its pricey but worth it. I just wish it would last longer. I love the back peddles. Remapping of (All) buttons. Thunbstick pressure adjustments. You can't beat this controller that I know of yet for Xbox series X/S for competitive MMO FPS games. I have owned about all controllers that isnt 300-400. This takes the cake.

No Sir! The Elite two has crap parts. The Elite one was much better but then Microsoft decided the cut back and use crap internal parts and still charge us the same for the controller. Which sucks because if your a hardcore gamer like I am, we need a controller that can take the abuse. Right now I'm using the corded Fusion by PowerA. I like it because the top comes off and so do the thumb sticks that allow be to get the internals to clean and eliminate any stick drift. Not that I've had any issues in my first year of owning this controller.

Tell me you're an Xbox Elite shill without telling me. I can't believe that you genuinely think that this overpriced piece of crap is the best controller ever made. I only ever hear negative things about this controller, especially the commonality of stick drift issues, so I'm not sure I entirely believe when you say that you've never experienced that issue.

100% JUNK is what they are, they last a few months at best before stick drift renders it useless, the bumper switches fail as well. Worst thing I have ever bought, could have bought almost 3 normal controllers for the price of this one piece of shit. Do any amount of research and these problems are super common on damn expensive accessory.
