Probably the most helpful video for the Xbox version of MSFS I've seen. Thank you for sharing this.

Another great video! The details are really helpful for a novice like me trying to make control of MSFS on Xbox a bit less cumbersome. Since update 8, everything is working better!

Thanks for the tips. I set all this up and it works great. Much more enjoyable to fly with these quick AP shortcuts. Cheers from CYYC.

I’m going to map these AP functions on my Xbox controller tonight, to go along with my Thrustmaster HOTAS One config that I learned from you a few weeks back. Cheers, Hud!

Great video! I'm returning to simulators with MFS using the gamepad and your post was very helpful. Thanks a lot. Videos covering simulation using gamepad are rare on youtube and more content like this would be welcome.

Additionally, due to your experience do you think a full gamepad flight including navigation would be possible or a impossible task? I've always use small planes instead of great airline planes

@@1983JSF It's certanly possible, but somewhat easier coupled with a mouse.

First love your videos. They have helped me so much. I modified this set up even further. I set "toggles" to heading, altitude, nav, etc etc so I can easily turn them on and off. The current set up in the video only turns them on. I find this helps better with certain things like landing. I can toggle off the altitude hold but keep nav on for ILS approaches.

Thanks for the useful tips. In the default Controller Mappings in the Systems Modifier (RB) section, LT and RT is assigned to Minus and Plus. What are those for?
@Huddison2 жыл бұрын
Excellent question. I'll try to rememeber to investigate, next time I use my Series S.

If you have not armed any of the AP modes this will have no effect. But for example with RB+X in the default mapping you are not only arming alt hold, but also selecting the altitude bug! So now you can increase target altitude with RB+RT. Now if you want to climb to that altitude you can RB+A ant set a positive climb rate with RB+RT. Working the same way with the heading bug.

Doing this your viewers will likely want to buy the Velocity One. It worked that way for me as I got fed up with using a ref list to not forget all those stupid button combo’s on the XBox controller. Essentially, the thing has only 10 buttons to work with. So mapping all this and more soon has you use 3-button combo’s. The Vel One has 32 buttons available (as I know you know James). After only 2 months into Vel1 I hardly remember flying with the controller. Throttle control using buttons….. Aaaaargh! Delete from memory!

Yes, the VF! is like having you're very own Multi-Panel integrated into a Yoke.

I’m new to this. I flew an ILS approach today. Am I supposed to take off the autopilot once the localizer activates? Is it an RNAV approach that allows the autopilot to take the plane all the way down to the runway? Thanks in advance for any responses.
@Huddison2 жыл бұрын
An ILS Autopilot approach should let you take your aircraft all the way down to the runway. Deactivate AP whenever you feel comfortable doing so.
