Xbox Game Pass Wave 2 for May 2024 Announced - IGN Daily Fix

In today's Daily Fix:
Microsoft has revealed the second wave of games coming to the Game Pass service this month. Headlining the group is Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2. The game is the long-awaited follow-up to the 2017 action-adventure game that proved to be an indie hit. Also coming to the service is Lords of the Fallen (not to be confused with the 2014 Lords of the Fallen, of which this is a quasi-sequel/soft reboot), EA Sports NHL 24, Chants of Sennaar, Moving Out 2, Immortals of Aveum, and more. In other news, Square Enix is admitted their latest Final Fantasy games have not met financial expectations. Last year's Final Fantasy 16, this year's Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and the multiplayer game Foamstars contributed to a loss of operating income for the company. Square Enix will undergo a restructuring, and will pursue a multiplatform strategy (Final Fantasies 16 and 7 Rebirth were both PS5 exclusive). And finally, in video game-adjacent news, Prime Video has ordered the live-action Tomb Raider show to series, meaning production will be fully underway with writer and executive producer Phoebe Waller-Bridge at the helm.

Well, Square Enix can blame hiring managers for the company's losses. My friend, who is a HUGE Square Enix fan and knows everything about it but has no gaming industry experience (has job specific experience), didn't even get a chance for an interview. On the other hand, my other friend who FABRICATED their resume for a specific job at SE actually made it to the final interview and was offered a position, but declined because he simply didn't know how to do the job. This makes me wonder how many others did the same but didn't decline job offers. In fact, every company should blame recruiters and hiring managers for their suboptimal performance.

Haha, that's hilarious. So, get this my buddy whipped up a fake resume, landed a job (can't spill the company), and ended up clueless about what he was supposed to do. But guess what? He's still kicking it in that big corporation, basically learning the ropes on the clock!

Not as big of a flop that's Game Pass, Xbox has been down 31% year over year since launch. Game Pass taught people not to buy games. Xbox is dying and will be the new Sega, Xbox sold LESS than the Dreamcast did last quarter, meanwhile PS5 has been selling at a precipitous rate upwards❤

Everybody who cares about video games at all needs to go by an Xbox if they don't have one. Nobody should be pumped that we're going from only 2 major players in the console game down to one (Nintendo is a child's company through and through, don't start). Nobody would be excited if every fast food restaurant went under accept McDonald's. Nobody would be excited if the only shoe company left on earth became Nike. You should have the same sentiment towards video games. Competition is what makes games better. End of story.

Hellblade and Lords of the Fallen are the meat and potatoes, the rest is kind of a let down. As an Xbox guy myself, it's crazy seeing the die hards hype the little filler games like they're bangers as well. But don't get me wrong, Game Pass has it's moments and is definitely worth staying subscribed to.

It's only your opinion, a lot of people enjoy indie games as much if not more than AAA titles, the most sold game of all time was an indie game (minecraft) and there are a lot of other very sucessful indie games like terraria, stardew valley, human fall flat.

well to be fair it's very smart, nowadays making an AAA game can be a gamble outside of some studios that will always make back their investment because they have a huge following like rockstar and cd projekt. Indie games cost much less to make and have a much easier time breaking even and sometime even can compete with AAA games in revenue ( minecraft, stardew, terraria). And xbox is not deadlast, xbox is microsoft which is both pc and xbox, they are more than okay with being second in the console market if they break even it's enought for them , they want to make their gamepass more widely popular and it's definitly working since the pc market has been stronger than ever. Meanwhile the PS5 had less sales than the PS4 which has resulted in first party title having a hard time selling, spider man 2 sold a lot less than spider man 1, final fantasy games are not making back their cost either . The gaming industry is not at it's best which is not very chocking since the economy is not going great and the first things that suffer in an economical crisis are non necessary goods. Microsoft was smart enough not to have increased their gamepass prices so they did not drop that many subscribers compared to other subscription services like netflix.
