My son's Xbox has been having the green screen of death for about 4 days now and this video literally just helped me fix it thank you so much now I'm going to call all my brothers and tell them about this momentous occasion because me as a mom I am not tech-savvy but I fixed it LOL

If you have a disc in the console, as I did, just remove it and continue pressing the eject button until you've done it 3 times. Your xbox should turn on and take you to the dashboard as usual. Hope this helps.

OK...thanks this helped but I must say that the whole thing about unplugging it was completely unnecessary. What I struggled with at first is that I was holding the buttons when the XB1 was already on. It should probably be made clear that you need to boot it with those three buttons. But yeah, not sure what caused the issue but you helped me resolve my issue. Thanks

Make sure you leave some space on your Xbox so I can run properly. If it's too full then it's probably going to mess up. You can get an external hard drive for cheap that'll save you some space on your internal hard drive.

Didn't get to try any of the methods, I turned it off holding the power button for 10 seconds for a hard shut down. I wanted to take out the game but didn't have any (I forgot I didn't have any). I only pressed the side button like 3 times. The xbox button started to flash, 5 seconds later it was at the dashboard. I was glad there is a way to get to the reset window without the USB.

Just want to say...Hats off to you, dude. Had just bought Call of Duty Cold War and my system came with up with that Green screen of Death. And YOUR VID...was the easiest to follow and straight up worked. No discharging any power residue, no disconnecting any umbilical cords, no time to waste. Like you said. Depress all at the same time, reset and that was it. Didn't lose a single game. Thanks.

The draining the power thing is true for physical buttons. Drains the capacitors. At least it works on tower computers and can be demonstrated by testing the capactiors before and after.

You can still press it! The button just pushes down and touches the actual button. Look in there with a light and you’ll see it.

If this does not work for you, my Xbox would not give me the troubleshoot screen to pop up when I held down the two buttons upon start up, but I held the power button down until it did a factory reset when it was on to turn it off, and then when I turned it back on I held down the power button alone until it did something weird after about eight seconds, then the next time I started it and press those two buttons it did allow the troubleshoot menu to come up

Reset worked for me (praise Jesus), only thing that sucks is that it deletes all your accounts from the Xbox so if you're like me and you've got a couple smurf accounts (haha XD) you'd better have the passwords and emails written down somewhere. I was able to get back into all of my accounts, thank the good Lord, so thanks for the video--its still effective as of June 2019

If you choose to keep your games you may continue to have the same problems. At that point this fix won't work and you'll probably have to do a full reset. Reset at your own risk.

I left my green screen of death on while I looked this video up and it went to a screen that “oops something went wrong” and gave me options to troubleshoot or shut down I chose troubleshooting and it took me there and then I just reset without discarding my games and saves.
