NOTE: GPU Clock speed is 1172MHz, memory speed is 1700MHz. Sourced our original numbers from LTT (as they have access to MSFT and we do not), but their numbers were apparently wrong (kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5Csmmujipirbac). Really impressed with the Xbox One X modularity and numbering. Should help their RMA process, but also help enthusiasts replace parts. Gamers Nexus When you said 1700 core I was stunned, as 1500 on a 580 is a very good OC. So, a decent $250 pc with an OC’d 580 8GB should be about the same gaming wise (i7 2600k, 8GB ddr3 2100, rx 580 8GB with a 1400 factory OC). That’s definitely, far and away, the best console ever made. Too bad it has to share RAM. Doesn’t matter, I’m still impressed.

Sort of, except got the clock wrong -- we sourced LTT for that information (they were at the Microsoft event, we weren't), and it appears that LTT mixed-up the GPU clock and memory clock. The actual memory clock is 1700MHz, the GPU clock is 1172MHz. This also changes the texture fill-rate to 187GT/s. The memory bandwidth specification, CU/SP count, and the rest remain correct. LTT's video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5Csmmujipirbac Found out after publishing this one that they had their numbers mixed. We've added a pinned comment, updated the description, and added a card at the timestamp. Cheers, all!

If you wanted to roast console fans you should point out how they keep having to upgrade every 2-3 years now to "keep up" with PC's. Come on man. He looked up the drive number on NewEgg. It's not 7200rpm. It's 5400rpm. The 7200rpm thing was simply speculation by websites trying to find a reason behind Microsoft's 50% higher bandwidth claim for the hard drive. It looks like the extra bandwidth is from freeing up some bottleneck on the motherboard. Hopefully that helps a SSD swap.

As much as I still believe PC to be the superior platform in the long run and just overall, I gotta say im happy to see consoles catching up. Its sad to see how limited the last gen consoles were and how saying consoles were a smart buy was looked down on or a gimmick. I'd like to see consoles as lower-end pc's with good price/performance with a low entry level. You could totally cook up a good pc at this pricepoint, but the fact that we are double-checking and doubting shows that competition could follow and help drive all platforms towards better prices and MAYBY! (just mayby). They might get to the point where they dont have to lock games behind exclusive deals and where we can have cross-platform gaming. I hope that narrow-minded idiots like elitists and peasants wont ruin the community and start irrelevant consolewars again. If we can all drive to a more free and healthy enviroment as consumers and where we can say NO to stupid marketing and division of the community, I sure do welcome this console.

some people just don't understand quantum computers... which is ridiculous when you consider that you are essentially 1 click away from getting an education about them before talking like you actually know something. seriously, you're on youtube already, there is no excuse for talking nonsense! Just look it up. Knowledge is so much better than pretending you know something. If you knew anything about them you wouldn't say they will replace consoles.... it's a laughable statement on so many levels and only shows a fundamental lack of understanding what quantum computers are! It's basically the same as saying Space X's BFR will replace walking.... like who put's those 2 things together!? you have to have a pure failure in your understanding of the BFR to make such a comment.

DigitalNow Yeah right. Call everyone idiots and misinformed is so helpful. That depends on the definition of PC. PC stands for Personal Computer. Computer is a device that performs arithmetic or logical operations. It's personal, because it's meant to be used by a single person at the same time (this can be changed nowadays) So a console is in fact a PC. The guy on the video is not precisely talking about a PC, but an IBM Personal Computer. And more importantly, he's approaching that as a hardware specification sort of list (features). According to that list, most likely your "PC" is not really a "PC", unless it has PS2. What's next? It's not a PC because it doesn't have a 5 1/4 disk drive? IMB Personal Computers used cassette tapes as well. An example could be your smartphone (I guess you have one). So it's a device that performs arithmetic and logic operations, yes. And it's meant to be used only by one person at a time. So it is a PC. It doesn't have a PS2 port, well, it's not an IMB Personal Computer.
@jcm2606
@jcm2606 7 жыл бұрын
+Glyn Davies They basically are just cheap PCs that exist in a closed ecosystem. They use the exact same hardware as a PC does, with x86-64 based CPUs and SoC processors, similar to laptops. The only difference would be the OS, and a custom GPU produced by AMD, that still uses the same architecture that the GPUs found in dedicated graphics cards do. It used to be the case that consoles used wildly different hardware in terms of the architecture, but since the PS4 and XB1, they've just became more limited PCs.

Avery F nope, I included keyboard, mouse, dual Intel wireless AND Bluetooth card, and OS in that figure. And the GPU in this is literally IN BETWEEN a 570 and 580, so try again. Addendum: the 1060 can, and has been shown in VIDEO FOOTAGE be able to run SEVERAL titles in 4K, and it has a shorter framebuffer, though slightly better compression technology, than the AMD cards.

Very elegant design by Microsoft. I really like the way that power supply plugs into the board and everything seems to fit nicely and have a purpose. The noise dampeners and the drive mount, wow. Almost seems like a console worth owning, but I guess that is to be seen. You mentioned getting creative with cooling, is that a hint at a hybrid mod with an external radiator? Also that cooling retention bracket reminds me of old AMD coolers with the lever on the rod and that little metal bar, props on figuring it out.

@Russell White Halo 5 has been visually unimpressive to me from the very start. increasing the resolution just made it worse IMO as it's easier to see the flaws. RDR2 is a good visual showcase for this thing, but of course the framerate there isn't good at all. As far as consoles go, considering the very slow CPU and older gpu architecture this thing is saddled with it does a good job of letting people take at least some advantage of their 4k TVs. If not for the X (and to a smaller extent the Pro) they'd have had to wait a lot longer for higher than native 1080p games, which would have sucked considering most of the TVs being sold today are native 4k, most of those sold being cheapo low end sets that wouldn't scale 1080p content up very well. The way the X was built screams "current gen but at higher resolution", and on that front it succeeds. Not a 60 fps machine, no new features, no X exclusive games, just more res.

What i usually do to copper heatsinks is i gound them to a 12v power supply, put the +12v on a coun, wrap the coin in a wet tissue and give it a scrub, this removes the oxidised layer and exposes the reddish-gold color of the copper.I would assume applying TIM and mounting quickly prevents reoxidation and helps thermal conductivity

Ive learned a lot about console vs pc in the last month so to clear up any confusion here it is. Consoles are pc's, just with everything on the mobo. The cpu is self explanatory, its on the mobo just like on a pc. The gpu is where it gets weird. Back in the days of the NES and Neo geo, console creators realized that if they took a pc gpu and just removed the chip, they could fit the power of a pc in a console. But back then, pc gpu's weren't really..... accessible once inside the pc. So it would take generations of consoles before the first pc gpu was used on a console(og xbox). The ps4 and xbox one are the second generation of consoles to use a pc gpu(the first being the og xbox). So with ram its a similar thing. Instead of plugging in inefficient ram sticks in terms of space, just have the ram board built into the mobo, and put the ram cores on that. Ever notice on older ram like DDR3L ram there's these squares on the stick? Thats the ram cores. So that about covers it. Console companies get discounts on gpu's(or if partnering with the gpu producer, its free)and then mod it to get the chips, then bam. You have yourself a good console. Small compaired to a pc, and gives good performance.

That TIM though....bad
@rainmaker6217
@rainmaker6217 7 жыл бұрын
not necessarily, as long as it contracts enough to fill the gaps a higher density is actually preferable. The reason for this is simply due to the fact that in most TIM the stuff that makes it soft is silicon which is really bad at transferring heat. The stuff that's actually good at transferring heat in TIM is usually a solid metal like silver in Arctic Silvers TIMs and so on, so a higher density is preferred for actually transferring heat. It makes changing paste and applying it a lot more difficult, but that's not really something MS have to take in to consideration.
@rainmaker6217
@rainmaker6217 7 жыл бұрын
It could be terrible, and I'm not saying it isn't. I'm simply implying that the viscosity of a TIM is in no way indicative of it's actual performance, though as I mentioned it shouldn't have to high of a viscosity either (for one thing, you want it to stay where you put it, but if it's silicon based then that hinders performance). Either way it would have been fun to be able to test it.
@RedPuma90
@RedPuma90 7 жыл бұрын
As long as the paste dries in place and the heatsink isn't moved in the slightest way (which it certainly does not when considering the thorough mounting) then the paste is fine. 'Dry' paste only causes issues if the cooler is moved after assembly so it breaks up.

Disappointing that the 1 X is still using the same god-awful CPU that's in the base XBOX1. Also think they should have went with a 2TB SSHD for its storage. 2TB should be the bare minimum, especially now where games are pretty much getting into the 100+GB zone.

>Anything other than Jaguar would cause compatibility issues. Nope, all they would have to do is use the PC code - as the consoles are x86 based which is the same as the PC. The only thing they would have problems with is first-party titles - but a simple patch can easily sort that problem out. >2TB SSHD costs more, system would be over $500. An extra 50 bucks isn't that much more expensive. You're already paying $500 for a console ffs, is an extra 50 bucks gonna break the bank?! I think not. >Besides, most people only play 2-3 games at a time. That's BS. Not even casuals play only 2-3 games at a time and what you have to realise as well the XBOX1X isn't marketed towards those type of gamers who only play 2-3 games at a time -- but rather marketed towards the more 'hardcore' oriented gamer that definitely plays more than 2-3 games. I mean, who the fuck is paying 500 bucks for a console to only play 2-3 games?! That's just fucking retarded. >Having bluray copies helps a lot. Would suck if you only used digital. Blu-ray does help but 1TB is still too limiting in 2017. Like i said, 2TB should be the bare minimum.

@Venom_Byte

All multiplats have PC code because they are released on both consoles and PC, in most cases simultaneously. Do you honestly think that it would be so hard for devs to get a game like, say battlefield 1 to run on an XBOX1X with a CPU change? No, a simple update is all that would be required. The reason why they didn't do a CPU change is exactly what shadowreaver752 said above, not because of code complications. If they made a significant CPU upgrade they would have to tout it as their new next-gen system. Also, stop defending XBOX1X's piss poor storage, you look like a pathetic corporate shill. 1TB is not enough in 2017. PERIOD.
