It sounds crazy at first, but it's actually the more pro-consumer option when you stop to think about it. If the battery completely dies in the DualSense (as admittedly unlikely as that probably is), you'd have to replace the whole controller, as opposed to a pair of batteries or rechargeable battery pack.

Helpful for when the batteries die mid game after you ignore the message telling you that your batteries were low 3 different times.

At least it's easier to replace the batteries just in case it becomes defective or if the lifespan becomes too short to play with wirelessly. It's a chore to do so on the DualShock 4 (two controllers I play with that are around 2 years old and now a full charge just barely lasts two hours). Also certain units have specific internal battery types that you just can't replace with the ones used in some models.
