Xbox Wireless Headset EQ Settings and Fix - Bringing Clarity Back!

There's chance you found this video because you either aren't happy with the sound or you've seen enough comments and user reviews saying this headset has too much bass. The Xbox Wireless Headset is a great headset when all is said and done, but its true potential is held back by its default sound signature. The bass is simply too high out of the box which has a muddy sound with low overall clarity. I made this video to help people tune the EQ and fix the sound profile, which drastically improves the sound signature making this a great headset for gaming and music. Once the EQ is fixed, I can't imagine many faulting how good this headset really is at $100.

Main problem with these settings is that to hear V8 rumble or throaty 5 or 6 cylinder exhaust note you have to increase volume to levels that will make mids and highs hurt your ears.

@@CatWizard123 i'll test these settings in r6 and get back to you. Edit: I played 3 games with these settings. Im not gonna say they are the best, however i can tell exactly how far and where are the enemies coming from pretty clearly. Keep in mind, im using the same headset that is shown in the video as well as i have dolby atmos. So for r6 i would say these settings would be great.

Great job with these settings. I was very close to taking these back if im honest. The sound out of the box seems to add some kind of "concert hall" effect that was awful... but your settings seem to have really helped with it. Thank you very much for your advice

I had applied the "game" setting applied for Atmos, with "detailed" chosen as well, prior to seeing this, but your stock accessories app settings was great info for most people. When I first used these in a game the bass was insane, probably ok for some games but fps you can’t hear a thing except explosions. I gave them a basic tune like decreased bass and were a lot better. After following your setup guide, wow, now they are awesome. Thanks man.

Tried a setting from a previous tech channel. Was not Impressed. Tried YOUR settinngs. And OMG. literally fell in love with this immersive headset. Mind you...it's $100. And with all the features...it's hands down the best for $100. I played doom with these headsets and was awesome. I did download Dolby access. And I can not tell if did anything. I downloaded it and then uninstalled it. And the head set sounded the same either way. I will do more testing. Or just keep Dolby access.....when it runs out in September if I end up missing it I will purchase monthly , Dolby access that is...

Mine arrived and these eq settings are perfect. Coming from a Arctis 9x I'm thoroughly impressed with Microsoft's offering. Has a great microphone and just more overall punch to it. And this eq allows me to pinpoint enemies

Great to hear! As a side tip, as I haven't shared this yet, but there are more audio tweaks you can do. Lower both bass sliders 2 more clicks (the left two volume sliders). Then set bass boost to +3 to +5. I recently learned that bass boost only bumps low frequency bass which is not addressed by the sliders. The end result was pretty nice sounding bass when I was done with it.

I've moved full-time to pc and sold the Xbox. All these settings can also be achieved on PC too. Just need download the Xbox accessories app on PC, plug in the headset and set the EQ how you want just like on Xbox. You can also get Dolby Atmos on PC. All the settings stick after you unplug the cord and use the headset via BT on PC.

I just bought this headset and I'm hoping it performs as well as the tb stealth 700 gen 2. I love the sound quality of that headset, but my game chat wheel didn't work correctly from day 1 and the left ear piece finally broke off of the headband. I tried the rig 800hx for about a week and did not like the sound quality or the microphone so I returned it and got the Xbox wireless headset. If it doesn't perform like the sleath 700 gen 2 I'll return it and get another 700 gen 2. Thanks for the short video!

Thanks! I really thought about returning it since the bass is so heavy that it almost hurts in the ears. Everytime I play black ops cold war and get a kill, there is this „kill-sound“ which totally destroys the ears. That is definitely a problem of this headset since I did not had these issues with my old Turtle Beach X42

Yeah in Warzone it become a serious issue with cluster bombs. You couldn't hear anyone walking around you at all haha. Once I killed bass and boosted the 4k mark slightly it became a whole new headset. TurtleBeach gets some hate but they know how to tune headsets for gaming, same with Astro.

Bought these a month or so ago. Terrible sound out of the box. Too bass heavy. Didn't like them one bit. Even went back to game and swapped them over for another pair. Same as last time. And at the time I'm thinking HOW are these getting great reviews. Then it was made clear to me. Download the Dolby app on the xbox. Got some ideas for the EQ settings. And wow!! Totally different headset now. Probably need to drop the bass down a bit. But very happy with them now. Thank you...

Sounds good! I'm pretty happy with this preset for a general EQ application. If I go more fine than this, it may favor a certain game/game mix too much and sound funny on other games. Tough to say but I'm sure there's room for a little more improvement.

Try lowering 250hz two more clicks then use bass boost +3. Sounds even better for music in my opinion. Only recently began experimenting with it
