Xcel Energy's about to pull some shift with your billing

The utility company's about to change the time of day when your energy use is the most expensive.

How many ways in a year can Xcel show they're shady without actually saying the quiet part out loud? They're not worried about constantly raising prices making customers mad, but theyre worried their 7pm time is too early? People will just wait until 9pm to flip on more devices like they did with 7pm, they're playing whack a mole to maximize profits but they haven't figured out they hurt their own profits by giving people an option to reduce bills by lowering energy use during certain times.

TOU isn't right for electricity markets - it's a stop gap measure for utilities that don't have smart meters. If XCEL uses smart meters, implementing a Tiered Demand Rates system would improve consumer choice on energy consumption, regardless of the time of day. You'd never need to 'shift' again. And consumers would then have more direct control over energy alternatives offsetting energy consumption from utility sources... Everyone wins. Consumers get more choice on how to consume electricity. Utilities spend less on infrastructure resulting on savings passed on to consumers. And energy prices drop without having such high peaks to build for; another win for consumers.

They'll never drop the energy prices. Don't even lie about that. It does not give me better choices on using energy. I'm home and 5. Kid needs to shower. I need to shower. I need to cook supper. That's the time I have to do any cleaning or leasure activities. That's the time I have to do these things and it can't be changed. How does this give me more options on energy consumption?

But the migrants in Denver get free everything while we pay up the ass to heat are homes. While there cozy in hotel's an migrant centers getting free heat and everything else
