An Xcel customer noticed her bills seemed higher than the amount of energy she was actually using. Xcel told her that wasn't their problem.

There needs to better transparency about billing and usage with power meters.

Hang on. If the meters are actually "flipped," then it's up to Xcel to correct the meter numbers being billed. The actual wiring is probably fine, the meters were just mis-identified at some point.

You kidding???? The meters are in the wrong sockets!! Swap meters and take the last three years of bills for each and swap them to. Do an adjustment. FIXED. This is definitely an XCEL error. They installed the wrong meter in the wrong socket.

Yep, that would work too. Or just change the meter numbers on the two accounts/bills.

SOLUTION: You see how easy the Meter plugs in- Xcel needs to just swap the "Smart Meters". Simply swap the two units (plug and play meters) and re-name the cover. Xcel would have to cut and replace the tamper tags( blue ones you see). An electrician would just come screw new addresses into each cover. If it's a permit issue- go to the builders/original electrical contractors. Being a condo or townhome- you might just want to ask the other neighbor to help split the difference -or them to just pay whole to make it right...
