Xcelerator 2.0 - NoLimits 2 Concept - Knott's Berry Farm

All the hype for Top Thrill Dragster's reimagining has inspired me to create my own reimagining for the original Intamin accelerator; Xcelerator at Knott's Berry Farm!
This creation is entirely conceptual and is not an actual project that is under development at Knott's Berry Farm, but rather a hypothetical rendition of what a reimagined version of Xcelerator could look like if Intamin were to renovate the existing coaster! This was created mostly in NoLimits 2, with a little help from Blender and some other various online resources. Let me know what you think!

Knowing the area around xcelerator this is one of the most realistic concepts I've seen for Xcel 2.0 and I love the second half. The slower speeds allowing for those insane elements to work in such a small area while still being forceful and snappy. If the hydraulic launch stayed this would be an amazing coaster to have at knotts. Even without a hydraulic launch, at least there's airtime hill on the launch for a nice pop. Something the guys in Ohio really should've done!

i'm not the biggest fan of multi pass launches but this right here is beyond impressive. I love how the original ride is basically still there! The new stuff would be so insanely good. It'd be cheaper than trying to put something brand new but the hype would almost be equal! Great work!

Theme Park Predictions aka Brandon brought me here, and I gotta say, this is not only spectacular, but doable, if not a Knotts, they could install this in another park as a full standalone new ride. I loved the sound effects added for the launches and stall, nice touch.

How did you make the buildings and stuff? I know the roller coaster editor but nothing with scenery.

So a lot of thek were made with support beams in game, and the rest were custom made by me in Blender, a 3D modeling software, and then imported!

In as much as this is a killer redesign, sadly a redesign on this scale will never happen. But it does make me wonder why Knott's isn't taking the opportunity to do to Xcelerator what Cedar Point is doing to Top Thrill Dragster. It ain't like the additional spike, transfer track and extended brake run would take up that much more space, after all.

This looks VASTLY superior to the current ride. It does look like it would involve getting rid of a current Haunt maze location though which I am not sure they could afford to lose. Also I am not sure if this design leaves enough room for the railroad train… I could not tell from the video. But otherwise this is just outstanding and I particularly like that you have an indoor queue with the coaster going through. Fantastic job on this. It looks amazing.

Personally I think the gp draw of this ride would outweigh getting rid of one maze. In fact it might help Knotts scary farm be more popular because thoosies would want to ride this after it being warmed up all day

The Railroad was something kept in the back of my mind and it would still work, however the indoor queue section I made would have to be much skinnier and for the purpose of the video, I made it ad large as i could. If that one building was a bit smaller, then the train would still be able to fit around the whole layout. As for Mesmer (the maze), Knott's removes each maze every 5 years or so, so Mesmer could be the one to bite the dust next if this happens!

@@M-NL2 Ah….They remove mazes, but they don’t remove maze LOCATIONS anymore. They just retheme them. After getting rid of most of the onstage locations, they have precious few areas left to build mazes. Plus a park needs to be able to disperse the crowds throughout the park, and having a maze there accomplishes that. It needs to stay unless another location was set up at the expense of something else…say Coasters diner or Coast Rider. 😛

Haunt has to have a certain capacity, which is why over the years it evolved from zero mazes, to the one single maze in a parking lot where Calico Rapids is now, to the many maze locations we see today. They HAVE to have a certain level of maze capacity. Also the crowds have to be dispersed throughout the park…in other words, ALL the mazes cannot be in one backstage area. They have to be scattered around else it just wouldn’t work.

They can always break the tradition in the name of moolah. plus the giant intamin would probably attract more people than a maze anyways, essentially filling its place. Worst case, just throw a retheme on there for scary farm if the crowd draw isn't the same.

You should do a Kingda Ka 2.0 next. I would love to see how you would redo the ride while keeping Zumanjaro intact and see if you could break records with that coaster as well as that airtime hill could turn into the worlds longest Zero-G Stall and it would be the longest one BY FAR and see what other things you could add to it to extend its layout while still staying within the boundaries of the ride area while not removing the drop ride cause the ride is too much of a money-maker for Six Flags. I think it could be a really fun challenge for you cause i could see something similar happen to Kingda Ka in the not-too-distant future if the Dragster overhaul is a success as that beloved coaster is getting a redo and it might actually get Intamin back in Cedar Fair's good graces as they had that incident at Cedar Point with their shoot the chutes water ride where the sensors failed and the boats crashed into each other causing injuries and Intamin being blacklisted by Cedar Fair. This redo of Xcelerator would be a MASSIVE hit by coaster enthusiasts and GP alike. The inversions are both great, the unique Stall-Roll is awesome, great new airtime moments and the Zero-G stall is perfectly placed and i love the fact that you were able to keep it all within that space and the new queue line is awesome and having the stall roll going thru it is a really cool touch. A+ man, great re-imagining.
