Ben: sees that codex’s keep placing psionic bombs down on his troops when they group up “I had better not group them up, that wasted all my reloads” Ben literally the next turn as he sees the psionic bomb still there: “Let’s group up all my troops I am sure they won’t do that again”

“How to play correctly” rant WARNING: It’s OK to restart or reload geoscape save from multiple days/weeks back. There is no need to justify reloads. Highly recommend getting F1 or “Better F1” mods working (there is definitely one that works on current version, it may have dependencies that need to be installed first), there are also mods that make it clearer whether something will consume 0, 1, or 2 actions, and/or end turn. The game expects you to remember laundry list of rules and situational exceptions to those rules, and, honestly, fuck that, esp on highest difficulty. I replay this every 2/3 years, and I cannot play it without those mods, it’s not fun to have a throwaway run because I have to relearn a bunch of nerd shit. This game is awesome, but it also has a way to undermine the fun of playing it, really one of a kind.

KZbin is now all caught up to the twitch streams (Ben didn't stream last week), but more important - 3:31:25 - look mom, I'm on TV! . spoiler shield . A bit worried that the new recruits are coming in at Sergeant (resistance order, 2:18:52 ) and I'm only a Corporal that will never again see the field of battle. That I got deselected for wounded/tired troops in the base defence doesn't help those worries. Bit grim to hope people get wounded/killed so I become the commander's best option, huh. Maybe everyone will just be really tired. I did get to go on Operation Cold Cavern before I knew I was me ( 2:26:37 ), though. At least J.W. Lee isn't far off. Time to rewatch that and see what I did. EDIT: 6 shots hit out of 7, for an overall hit chance of 85.7%. 2 kills on Lost Dashers, and 2 on Lost, for 4 total. Took 4 damage from a Lost Dasher. Other notable achievments - Revived a dazed and badly wounded Lieutenant Tubtubz (which left me in a bad position and is why I took the previously mentioned damage), allowing them to escape successfully. o7

I like to play with the mod that makes Lost target you 50% of the time, instead of the biased odds the base game has

If only you could at least pick up weapons and supplies fallen teammates had and maybe a dog tag. Gives a chance to keep some things if risking more to go and get them. Especially when one mission gone wrong already hurts so much ti even try to recover from. Especially if you clear all the hostiles.

I mean, I'm pretty sure you actually can. I if someone dies, you can carry their body and you can extract with it so you don't lose any gear they had.

If you dont feel like playing long war, they always have the alien and weapon packs so you can get the content in them but have the base gameplay

For all you Stormlight enjoyers out there don't sleep on book 5, it's great. Personally I thought 2/3 were the best, 4 was rough and 1/5 were very good

I almost never used my reaper in fights. Info about the chosen and pods was way more valuable to me. Not to say I dislike Ben's method!

Yeah until they get Silent Killer at Lieutenant I use them almost exclusively for explosives (Claymore, Remote Start) and scouting After that point it's off to the races

Reapers are really useful for assassinating wounded enemies or VIPs without alerting everyone. I mostly use them as a scout/assassin combo.
