As a bike mechanic myself, I found this to be excellent, as sometimes the manufacturer's schematics can be unclear and confusing, a simple enough process but a great video. Cheers pal!

Thanks! Anytime I run into something weird like this, I try to make a video if I have time. I'm always stoked if it's helpful to someone, but truth be told, I use them to look back and have a point of reference if I have to do the same repair a year later and forgot how I did it the first time. I appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback!

No doubt it was YT....the reason I am here. Wish they would stop mismatching brands. My full SRAM 2016 Capra ran great the whole 3 years I had her, my newer one is fine I guess but not great. Looking to do this very change so thanks for the vid!

Great video, can you help me? I have one just like the one you replaced, but I removed the cassette and saw that the entire hub and axle came loose so i tide back and after a ride i realized that it get loose again And I realized that you didn't put grease on it, that's how it works.

Hi there, I wonder if you can help me? I've just bought a 2020 YT Jeffsy with Ethirteen wheels, having the same rear hub as this. The XD body bearings were shot so I've replaced them but what seems odd is that when I tighten up the axle, it causes binding. If I slacken off the nut, the wheel spins freely but then the nut works loose and the wheel begins to wobble. It appears that all the parts are there, as per your video. The end caps, the spacer with the two thin shims etc. Any idea why tightening the axle causes binding? The wheel spins freely but there's drag on the drivetrain. The cranks become harder to turn. Thanks!

Interesting. It amazes me that they can cram so many cogs on these clusters.

Thanks for making this. Super helpful. Did you use the lube they include in the package? Where’d you apply it?
@JoeyMesa4 жыл бұрын
Mainly on the axle and all the spacers between the bearings. I can't remember if I used much on the pawls. I usually use Dumondtech free hub oil or Phil Wood oil on the ratchet mechanism. Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback!

Hey buddy, I just want to ask if all yt capra with e13 hubs has XD bodyhub?
@JoeyMesa4 жыл бұрын
I'm not familiar with what components come stock on YT bikes, but if it's got a Sram Eagle drivetrain, it's going to have an XD free hub body.

Hi I'm looking to do this conversation. The instructions on the E13 website state: "Shimano freehubs require an additional washer on the outboard side of the axle configuration." Don't know what they mean by "outboard"? Any ideas?
@jorgeguerra7772 жыл бұрын
did u ever find out where that washer went? im looking to do this conversion as well.
@machinist_matt2 жыл бұрын
@@jorgeguerra777 Hi. It was over a year ago since I did the conversion so can't remember fully to be honest. That said, I do remember that there is an aluminium spacer in the centre of the hub, it should have a thin shim washer at either end to prevent wear. The thickness and quantity of these washers determines how deep the freehub will sit into the hub and so consequently affects pawl engagement. My advice is to ignore the instructions somewhat. Take it apart, note the order everything fits together, fit the freehub and then the pawl engagement problem will become more obvious. Fit or remove washers as needed.
@jorgeguerra7772 жыл бұрын
@@machinist_matt i did the conversion already. the way they worded the instructions is kind of confusing but all they meant with an "additional washer" was the washer/dust cover on the outboard of the hub driver since the Xd driver does not utilize one. like u said the internal washer/aluminum spacer/washer is all in the same order, and they do provide you with the thicker washers for each application with the hub driver. thanks for the response!
@machinist_matt2 жыл бұрын
@@jorgeguerra777 No problem. Good to hear you got it all fitted correctly. 👍

Why did sram go to all this trouble to get a 10 tooth Cog instead of 11 ridiculous
@JoeyMesa4 жыл бұрын
Wider gear range at the cassette. The eThirteen cassette just doesn't work well with Shimano components. Sram cassettes with Sram components work great.

As fas as mountain bikes go, you may be waiting a really long time!
@oreocarlton33434 жыл бұрын
@@JoeyMesa Regarding mtb, I think a lot of people are loosing performance and paying a lot of money for it by going to 1x trendsetting. Chain drop even for serious agressive riding now with clutch RDs is preventable and with something like 2x9 or even 2x8 you beat the range of 1x10, 1x11, you can run shorter cages as well and have more fluid gear jumps, better chainlines, less affected by bent hanger... If we implement modern chain technology on 8,9s chains they would become even less prone to braking...so many mechanical advantages.
@MrZeko3rs4 жыл бұрын
@@oreocarlton3343 you may be right, but there will always be tradeoffs... recently, the 1X are getting so good that i really dont see the industry backing-off anytime soon.
