Xena: Warrior Princess (PS1 longplay)

Replacement for my old Xena video. Now with better visuals, much better audio, I play slightly better and my game didn't crash so my stats will be accurate.
This is probably the best Xena game I've played and playing with the charkram is always fun.

I remember when this show originally aired. I remember loving it because I had a HUGE crush on Lucy and Renee. I remember owning this game because of my love for those ladies and this show. And I remember when we looked at these graphics and gameplay as totally fine. Damn I wish I could go back in time.

Oh my God, I remember that when I found out that this game was coming out I asked my parents to buy it for me for Christmas and I spent a month thinking about it until the day arrived. I enjoyed playing every day, what memories.

When fight bosses like pirates king or amazons queen or kalabrax it is better to use golden shield pick up to become invincible for short time and attack enemy and beat him easily.

Kalabrax was very difficult to beat compared to the other bosses. I did beat her without the golden shield since her pattern could be picked up easily to some extent. But I also figured out which of Xena's moves did the most damage to her and which evasive moves worked in the fight. The whole thing was to kind of keep up with her, stay close, use your evasive moves when necessary and when you see an opening in a instant whale on her. One of Xena's moves completely pushes her back then causes her to fall forcing her to get back up. Maybe second to her was the Amazon Queen. She was almost as formidable as Kalabrax. I could say she was difficult to beat but her pattern was way different compared to Kalabrax. This game brings back memories of my childhood and I played it more than a few more times when I grew up. It was a game worth keeping.

You right but if you becoome invincible by gold shield and attack kalabrax and surrender her by wall you can beat her quickly without any effort

@@theskull4106 True. I also kept close to her because of that one attack she does if you are too far away from her which is annoying. But I like good boss fights and the fun in it gets taken out if you use the golden shield. I like putting in the effort in and not using some cheap item or move. Kalabrax reminds me of galamoth from castlevania symphony of the night. He is the one of the hardest bosses. You can beat him the old fashion way with an item that makes his attacks useless to where it heals you but he's still hard regardless. The other way is the cheap way where you combine the real Alucard shield not the replica one with the shield rod and he's down in less than ten seconds. I have beaten him normally and the few times I used the other method. But I prefer to beat him the old fashion way its more fun that way. I can be patient when it comes to beating bosses. I like figuring out their patterns and what items to use etc. Otherwise how would bosses be fun if we can beat them in a few seconds. A lot of games would be there and gone if there was no challenge. But overall this game was good. Although I wish that they made a sequel or something. Xena warrior princess was a good series to make a game out of that.

LOVED this game when I was a kid. Used to go over to my aunt's house and play it with my cousins. Video games were so novel back then that our whole family from my mother to our grandma would sit around and play it with us. Those were awesome times.

If it helps high school wasn't great for me but I always loved watching Xena and Hercules on Sunday evenings and getting to play the game. When you have things to look forward to it does help you get through the week but I'm glad my school days are over as once out of school you can go and do as you wish!

In 2000, my brother, my cousin and I spent a whole day playing it and we set a challenge to complete the game. We played in turns until three in the morning. We completed it and were very happy, then we went to sleep. What exhausted us the most was the dragon stage. We did not know how to kill it except with great difficulty.

Considering PS1 graphical limitation, this really looked so good. It looks even better than I remembered. The artist/art director + the team really did a great job, very beautiful atmosphere. And of course very great gameplay and I'm sure they had very good coder, the chakram is just great!

Watching the cam follow the chacram had me blown away! In all the ps1 games Ive played I dont remember playing anything with a mechanic like that. Super fast, smooth, and seemed to respond to physics and i dont know if its player directed or not but way to go devs!

I'm french and used to play this game when I was a kid - the french version did have the exact same sounds effects, like the screams and stuff. This brings back so many memories ! The levels are so ugly yet so lovable at the same time. I remember I was obsessed with the waterfalls of the first level. And the cyclop was so memorable lmao
