Between blood artist triggers and balefire attacks _and_ having all but no board state can make you vanish for a while. Also having had a Hazezon deck in the past, his relative scarcity and slightly obtuse ability puts a lot of people off their game. It's only when the above happens they start getting on to you. That and swapping Hazezy for something more proactive like Mararth. That divine visitation will now sound their alarms, much like how my turn 1 hardened scales my play group considers a declaration of war.

But he could have just saced his board later with the seer. He took 6 damage for no reason and lost the ability to kill his board when he wanted.

Yeah this kind of thing happens to me sometimes. I slug it out with the 2 players the whole game then eventually kill them. Then I get killed by the one dude that went unnoticed the entire game.

Always tough choices. Do you attack/ pick on the player who is just setting up and not hurting anyone to stop his future growth or is it wrong/ frowned upon to attack someone who's board isn't a threat...at the time.

Depends on how long you have known the player and the deck. Good player/deck? Then go for the throat if you're set up to love through a knock back... Otherwise play it cool and try to pull it off

My favorite group of players to watch on this channel def have to be the Jersey bois. I'm always rooting for Trevor to win, but I'm not upset when he does lose since the other guys tend to have very cool win cons.

I highly suggest someone at the table try an Ilharg mono red deck. I run one, and it's thing is sneak attack and cheating out broken stuff like the balefire dragon trick or blightsteel if you're feeling mean. It's tons of fun!

I'm telling ya, divine visitation is one of the best if not the best token creating enchantment ever made. You can do busted stuff with that enchantment! I have a Angel token deck that can make angels with landfall and enchantment casts courtesy of divine visitation and sigil of the empty throne.

I'm trying to make a higher power Xenagos deck without relying on infect creatures, cause as much as I enjoy infect with Xena (and infect in general), I don't like listening to my friends complain about it, nor do I enjoy getting hosed out of the game any time I play him. Any tips on building an interactive Xena deck, I'm all for it 😅

If you activate it multiple times in a row and sequence properly, you can use instant-speed effect in-between the mirror's copying effects resolving.

I was thinking it was a bad play to swing balefire at Frank at the beginning! Trevor should not have poked the bear when Frank can just sac and drain Trevor. He took a lot of unnecessary damage.

No, it was the correct play not accounting for Living Death. Without it, Frank would've drained Trevor, but still been left with no board and a small hand.

I'm sorry, but unless Frank had sworn off of combos for his teysa deck, he should have been target number one the moment he had blood artist and viscera seer. With even a tiny bit of luck with his draws he could have been tutoring to infinite before anyone could react.

I think that Harry should have dealt 20 to Frank instead of Trevor. Harry was very lucky to have dealt 40 damage in his turn, and that Frank had no ways in getting back some life. Personally, I would have taken out Frank first, since Trevor was likely not going to have lifegain or a board wipe, at least not compared to a black/white deck. Congrats to you, Harry, ya lucky son of a gun.

On the other hand, Trevor was more likely to kill Harry out of nowhere than Frank. Xenagos is that strong, and green is also good at board-wiping flying creatures. Harry won because he was left untouched for the whole game, until it was too late.

@@DarkEinherjar Yeah, I get it. Either way, Harry got it just right. But I would have dealt with Frank first, that's just me though. I don't know how much that would have affected the game however, it may have let him still win.

Not sure why you would discard cards and pay x to cheat creatures into play with Vivien's arkbow when you can use See the Unwritten and Selvala's Stampede

@@infamous0ne789 Arkbow is repeatable and cheaper. The deck has a lot of ramp in it and it gives you something to do with your mana consistently. Honestly it tied Trevor's hand together this game, he just had a number of unfortunate misses with it even though odds were in his favor. I've seen See the Unwritten and Stampede do work but I think Trevor's inclusion of Arkbow is correct. Trevor's Xenagos deck does better than this showing, Magic is a game of variables and Trevor just hit some bad luck.

Seems to be a pretty common thing in commander. If you don't present yourself as a threat, the table tends to ignore you until it's too late.
