Shirei works based off the power the creature had when it died, so Edmond should have used Fume Spitter to put -1/-1 on Falkenrath Noble so it would have been brought back with Shirei.

Perilous Myr doesn't trigger Ayara, as only Black creatures trigger her. I don't think it makes a difference (?), but I wanted to note it. :) Great episode as always, always love seeing Matt rep the red!

The aristocrats decks with sacrifice pings is my new favorite way to play, I chose Xira as my first commander with this mechanic. Definatly interesting to see it played with a different commander! I would love to see more games like this with aristocrats. :)

Sad pirates! I found it puzzling why Esmond only did his sacrifice shenanigans during Liang Ying's turn at not at Mac's sometimes! Otherwise that Shirei deck is honestly pretty awesome. Great game guys!

Never have I seen such a passive simic deck. But that shirei deck, holy shit Esmond, that was so cool. It plays like my Marchesa, the Black Rose deck but gets online 4 turns faster.

I like McMillan's use of Unlimited basic lands. Esmond should have just sacrificed the Perilous Myr to kill Velomachus with the 2 damage and then put the -1/-1 counter onto the Hellkite Charger. 😀

Ayara wouldn't be triggered from the myr, but otherwise was good, and unless they cut it from the video you forgot to sacrifice on one of Mac's turns. Still fun to watch.

I've been inspired, i was gonna bide my time and make a Mardu sacrifice deck. But upon seeing i only had so many pieces to make it worth going outside of black and the value of Shirei every turn...i have to do it in a week or so I think I'm gonna be building Shirei

Yea, if they target Ayara or Noble, he can shrink them to 1/* and make them come back. I think the right choice is targeting the greaves?

I have a question, the Shirei player made no actions during the turns that the Pirate commander player passed his turn, why? Why no sacrifice to keep the other creatures getting -1/-1 counters etc.
