Dragonfire Dive both too cool to get rid of AND it's an important skill tied to the level 50 DRG job quest. You use Dragonfire Dive on Estenien in the cutscene. It blew his ass into the next expansion. 😂 Reducing the cooldown timer on it would be better.

Bruh, I main DRG since Stormblood and those changes are terrible. LotD is gone and with all optimization and fun that job providied. If anything, I'd say people aren't complaining enough.

People have forgotten how you needed 3 eyes to go into Life back in SB and they brought that down to 2 in ShB. Makes sense that they might remove that requirement entirely eventually to keep it performing with the other melees.

Dragoons Rework is exactly what I wanted from my main. It gets its core burst as soon as the fight starts and the fundamentals of the job remain basically the same! Even more hyped for dawntrail now

I main dragoon since heavensward and yes changing a jump for a dash its terrible. Dragoon IS the jumping job. This is what makes the job original

@@Laharldelacave But the drg has his jumps. He has jump/high jump (downside, you stay on your place), the aoe jump (maybe they reduce as a compromise the cd allready, the skill feels to weak for a 2 min cd), Stardiver and the following up jump attack. The number of jumps is the same (ok, maybe 1 jump lower, because you could do spine 2 times). The only downside is, that most of them are not so free/often usable. And it’s true, that jumps are the signature of drg. But, from a evolution clip I saw was jumps allways only a part of its set. And not the main skills from them. Jumps are skills, specifically to fight flying enemies. But against humans are jumps sub-optimal. For them are dashes/forward jumps more useful (should be faster and is easier to hit smaller enemies). Should spineshatter be keeped, without dmg? Maybe. It would have probably been easier and look more cool. But a dash is nice to. One advantage is, that inexperience drg would not try to jump over a edge (like the hand in the god raid), because they think, they could overcome it. Because it’s a jump (did that kind of mistakes sometimes). By making jumps rare, are they allways specials and don’t become gummibears.

Similar complaints happened when BOTD management got axed after HW too. It's the way she goes. I'll reserve judgement after I've dug in at lvl 100 for a bit. RIP Spine shatter though :( Would've been fine if they just removed the potency from it and kept it in.

ppl dont understand drg and it shows, the changes are good for the class, its not a full re work so the class will play the same, but now you will burst off the rip and your true norths will line up better, merging actions makes room for more new skills in the future, spine shatter is now just a normal gap closer iirc, and yes Xeno is right dragonfire dive is hot garbage for 300 potency lmao

I kinda understand how people can feel about the DRG "rework". We were used to having actual reworks for quite a while now. EW SMN or ShB MCH, just to name a few, were actual reworks : the whole job was changed with new core mechanics and a new flow. Hell, MNK, as usual, seems to get bigger changes than DRG gets despite being advertised as "reworked" for at least a year (probably way more than a year, but I don't remember when the AST and DRG reworks were announced). The changes for the other melees look fine. I'm really glad SAM gets actual audio feedback again on Third Eye procs. Also it's funny that even a japanese person can't say the SAM skills names with confidence. The new follow-ups on MNK's riddles look interesting, I kinda want to know more about the riddle of earth follow-up though since it doesn't look like an offensive ability. RPR changes aren't impressive, but the new skills look great and the QoL the job received can't go wrong. NIN looks fun to play as always. Basically no big change, the Huton change and the new gauge only changes the punishment for messing up Armor Crush timings.

The Meikyo/Tsubame change is actual ass from the sounds of it. You're gonna have to weave it into the 1 minute just before the Midare, and it's gonna screw up Ultimates like DSR where you don't always want to pump 100% of your damage like the rewind 30% threshold but don't want to overcap Meikyo. Or Eyes where you want to start off with a DoT on both eyes and use your Tsubame for it.

All MNK did for timer management is forcing you to use the less powerful timer gcds instead of your more powerful rotation gcds when you have to attend to a mechanic or when you come back from downtime. Having to constantly reapply a buff and dot is NOT engaging gameplay. With the new rework we will likely have a newer challenge in optimizing the gauge coming into a burst window so knowing when to use a reset will actually be more important. As a MNK player since HW this is the best MNK has looked in forever!

I like Dragoon's changes. Yeah it will be easier to play Dragoon, but as it is it can be a challenge to keep your rotation and also keep up with new mechanics or even just older mechanics. Thats what QOL is, it makes it easier to play the game. Removing Spineshatter is.... eh not as liked. It's a fun re-engager. Sure Dragoon has a good number of those anyways and it is being replaced not just erased... but Im not sure I see the need for it to go.

i wish for dragoon, they just gave you life of the dragon at the start like paladin gets full gauge instead of fully removing the management. Now the optimization with lotd management is gone which i find sad. i dont care much about the jumps

Probably because none of the other dps have to give two shits about their position outside of handling a mechanic while melee dps need to find perfect pixels just to maintain their rotation without dying and theres nothing to help that. Casters at least get swift casts and if you miss multiple positionals it can add up to hundreds of potency.

@@Deminese2 Bro, melee has true north. 2 stacks, they last 10s each and has a 45s recharge time. On average we only need to move for a positional 2 times per 10s so you save them for awkward points in fights and unless you get stuck with a bad tank there is rarely a time where you're forced to hit 1 side for longer than 20s at a time.

@@cynthiastarcrossed sure but you're focusing entirely on positional part but mechanics are mechanics and if you have to walk away from the boss to do it you can't dps and thats not an issue for ranged. if they go back to smaller hitboxes like they said they would you're going to notice the discrepancy between ranged and melee

The biggest thing i wanted for dragoon was for dragon sight to be a buff like dance partner where you set it and leave it. I played drg a lot through Shadowbringers and i mained it in Endwalker and i hate that ability as it is. I just use a macro now, but now i cant time my opener or bursts perfectly.

Monk changes seem cool. It’s gonna be nice not needing to worry about keeping a Buff and Debuff rolling constantly. Not sure how it’ll work in AoE though. Only thing that I don’t like is the new Empowered Bootshine animation. It looks stupid. Also, riddle of wind is still a thing…..

It placed them in melee range. That’s exactly what a gap closer does. It’s probably not a set distance, maybe it sets them at max melee instead of 0 yalm range, but otherwise it doesn’t seem to do damage so what else would it be?

@@thepeanutter9972 It did not. Had to double check to make sure, but it has a potency of 250 right now, hence why we save them for burst windows rather than using them as needed, which tbh defeats the purpose of having charges.

My problem with DRG was it literally had more positional than monk. Coming from shadowbringer that was just baffling. So when they said rework I was excited then they delayed it to next expansion I waited. Now they’re not giving a rework so I’m just disappointed to be fair.

What is monk 2 target? And from the strikers do i like the monk more. Samurai has the better weapon. But feeled allways to slow and stiff to me. And feels like, that he has no reach with his sword. Monk is faster and look more nice to watch. And using his combos feeled easier/ more streamlined and has a better flow. The only thing I dislike by the monk is, that his attacks had no impacts from feeling. Whe saw in the trailer of sb and shb, that his punches can create shockwaves and high destruction. But ingame are most punches feeling to weak. That looks to change with this expansion. And the other thing I dislike by the monk is the immersion. How can he fight with his pure fist or glowes peoples with swords, spear, guns/bows and magic? He has a to short reach with his arms and legs and the limps should be cutted very easily. But from gameplay? Is he in my top 5 classes. BLM: who I like, because he is a wizard, DRG: because he the class where it feels, I can play it at the best (I’m wavering between blm and drg as my main, they feels like opposites to each other and the strength of each class is even, what bothers me, blm is slow but powerful and allows me to watch the surrounding, but feels boring over time, when all is perfect and I has mostly only to press fire4, drg to the other hand is fast and I have to press a lot of buttons, that creates the problem, that I’m sometimes so much focused on attacks, that I doesn’t notice the surrounding) Scholar: he is the healer I like the most, especially, because of the fairy Reaper: I like his weapon, his outfit and theme and his fast placing. I only dislike it, that it’s hurts my finger over time, when I play him, because, I need to press 2 buttons for using his void skills (because of the placing of the skills) Monk: I like monk, because he is fast and I can play him, while I shut down most of my brain. He is only lower on the list, because of the immersion problems, I have with him. And the problem, that he is good in meele. But has practically no range attacks, who are freely to use (they are only avaible with enough chakra or maybe with the riddle of fire skill and so on).
