You see, the joke here is extremely suble and without a degree in the comedies can fly by the average xenoblade enjoyers head. Lin wants to eat Tatsu, that much is obvious and in itself not funny, the joke comes in when Tatsu is absolutely terrified at the prospect of Lin, a fellow sentient being capable of speaking the same language with the same goals in mind, is threatening his entire existence. Biologically speaking, Lin as a human is far more advanced than the Nopon, she could easily end his life and eat him if she is she so desired. There’s also the fact that Lin never apologizes for these jokes, even though you can clearly see how utterly distraught Tatsu gets. Thank you monolithsoft, not can you make incredible games, you also managed to save the entire comedy industry.

Not many people can understand the comedic genius of the repetition here. The first time they told the joke, I chuckled. The second time, I laughed. The third time, I cackled. The fourth time I fell to the ground and wet myself in laughter. The fifth time I was overcoming with uncontrollable shrieking guffaw that lead my neighbors to call the police for a wellness check. The sixth time, I asphyxiated as I experienced violent contortions as my diaphragm forced all the air from my lungs and my mouth contorted into a fixed manic grin. The seventh time, my body shattered under the force of laughter and I compressed twisted, and unfolded in unnatural angles like a demented puppet as my bones snapped. Truly jokes only get funnier the more you repeat them.

Honestly by the 3rd time it was said, Lin went from unfunny jerk to acting like a high school bully. I mean every time she makes that quip it clearly upsets Tatus, yet she clearly doesn't care and even during the end she won't let up on her "in her head funny" joke.

Lin final affirmative mission has just that. For someone who is supposed to be scared of being eating by Lin, it's hard to believe only Tatsu acts innocently stupid at the end of that mission cutscene. It's more like he's messing with Lin

Tatsu's dance was really cute, even though I'm a boy and I'm supposed to be immune to that stuff, it still gets me, I don't get why tatsu gets so much hate, I think its because some people think monolithsoft is trying to copy Riki's personality into tatsu, tatsu and riki have different personalities, Riki is cheery and full of energy to travel and fight while tatsu is calm and kinda airheaded at times

They told this joke six times? That’s breaking the rule of three. In comedy, if you tell the same joke more than three times, it gets stale after the third time. Either way, imagine being on the receiving end of cruel food jokes for the rest of your life? It honestly sounds pretty sad. =(

You can only choose one of the six dishes, so you only hear this joke once per playthrough at this decision point. But yes, you can make jokes in the game at Tatsu's expense about him being emergency rations for the team.
