The naming is more to be consistent with the original from the game. If I had two both called Longsword, it would be confusing, so I kept the one-handed as a Longsword (which it also is in Kingdom Come) and named the two-hander "Greatsword". If Kingdom Come had called it a Kite Shield, I'd have named it that too!

johnskyrim well one handed swords or arming swords should be referred to as such in historical games in Skyrim mabye

If my memory serves me right there is no such thing as a greatsword in history there were long swords, short swords and daggers, but I excuse this because of suspended belief.

I put both of the swords on the ground and the greatswords version is longer. The definition of a longsword is a medieval European two handed sword. As the mod creator says they can be used in one hand but had is not the primary way they were used

Timothy gaming NO it cannot that is an arming sword a longsword has to be held with two hands and a greatsword you cannot use as a sword but as a pole axe and where did you get that information

Jared Dinges actually. A longsword is a two handed weapon. Can it be used one? Yes actually. But not effectively. What you’re thinking of is a hand and a half sword(bastard sword) BUT! Only slightly better at one handed. The hilt (on the longsword) makes it hard to one hand because it keeps hitting your wrist. Likewise bastard swords but this time with the pommel. Reason why a lot of people make longsword one handed in Skyrim is because not a lot of people know how to change attack values so they just make it one handed. Arming sword however. Is effective both one hand and two handed (as long as there is a pommel, you can two hand effectively).
