PREVIOUSLY:
Fei ultimately decides to cooperate with Bart and the others as they travel to the city of Bledavik where the dictator of Aveh, Shakhan, holds Marguerite Fatima captive. The city also happens to be celebrating its 500th year, with the leader of Gebler Kahran Ramsus and his subordiate Miang Hawwa visiting not only to observe the festivities but to find out more about the Fatima Jasper through Marguerite.
Fei's group soon learns about the festival's fighting tournament, which Citan suggests Fei to participate in in order to distract the castle guards, all this while Bart sneaks inside and save Marguerite. The pirate leader then remembers that the waterways of the city comes from the castle's reservoir, and that he could reach them via the town's wells in order to reach the castle unnoticed.
Fei clears the first three rounds of the tournament with ease but meets a familiar face in the semi-finals in the form of Dan, who is still furious at Fei from what happened in Lahan. Fei stays on the defensive the whole bout, which angers Dan as defeating him in such a way would not satisfy his thirst for revenge. Dan forfeits promising to end him the next time they meet before leaving Alice's wedding dress to Fei for him to be reminded every day of the tragedy in Lahan.
The finals of the tournament pits Fei against a masked man named Wiseman who skillfully dodges every attack Fei throws at him. In the middle of the bout, he questions Fei's motivations for fighting and also calls out his real name even though Fei registered using only a fake one. Wiseman then commends Fei for recovering from his severe wounds and flees the scene before Fei could interrogate him further. Meanwhile, Bart successfully infiltrates the castle after passing through the floodgates.
