I remember going to some hole-in-the-wall gaming store when I was young that would get evicted notices and the guy who was running the store brought a big box of games with a copy of Xenogears. I immediately bought it in heartbeat, I took it home and the first disc wouldn't play because there was a scratch on it. I went back to get a refund for him to disappear without a trace and I never saw him again. Then a friend stole my copy which I wasn't bummed about since I couldn't play it. Anyways just wanted to share my misfortune story with others about this game

I just finished my first playthrough of Xenogears a week ago, I really didn't think Chu-Chu was that intrusive. She is only in like two scenes and I never had her in my party, so I often just forgot that Chu-Chu was in the game at all lol.

I've never played this game before but have heard of it for years. Great review, you voice fits perfectly. Glad I found your channel as I've just completed FUTURE CONNECTED from the Xenoblade 3 DLC and I am working my review for it. I'm definitely gonna say this, Xenogears as far as anime goes has more elements of G Gundam, Space Runaway Ideon, and Five Star Stories than Evangelion.

I strongly believe even Gundam Unicorn took inspirations from Xenogears. The idea of Unicorn gundam's ability to transform and the psycho frame added abilities of borderline reality warping. the scene in Episode 5 where Unicorn Gundam was pushing the Garenceires seemed more similar to Fei, Elly and Rico was pushing a descending ship in disc 1 Even tho that Unicorn scene was meant to tribute the Axis shock in CCA

Loved this game so much, got it the day it came out! It was also a massive inspiration for a game I did in school years later, based on a comic my brother and I created as kids. There were no giant mechs to pilot, but you traveled to 2 different planets, a massive space city, and derelict starship.

I truly wish for a Remake of Xenogears, indeed😊. And I’d like for Hammer, the handy yet under-appreciated character😢, to replace Chu-Chu as one of the protagonists of the story, as he would have quite a big character development to outgrow his seemingly inferiority complex through the story and become an indispensable ally.

I like Chu-chu but her dialogue is difficult to get through don't chu think? Even as a game that Square pulled funding from and redirectited the remaining budget into FF8 it's still better than any of the other rpgs they made back on ps1 onward.

I only really appreciated Xenogear's story later in life. I got it on release day and a lot of stuff went over my 8 year old head. Now I see it as a much more interesting take on the 'Christian Mythos with Mechs" trope. I even like the overall story (complexity and all) more so then Evangelion.

I love the story of the game. I also love the mechs. But man did they messed up with the dungeons(especially the final one in Deus) Oh and the annoying encounter rate

Haven't played this in years, but even then I felt it was strange that everyone kept saying the implementation of Nietzsche, Jung, and Freud was "deep" lol GMAB. And I love how very few respect the game's German and Gaelic names when it comes to pronouncing them.

What's always been funny to me is games like this and so many others that are considered the best of their time or cult classics were in bargain bins, yard sales, and flea market tables for dirt cheap. At a swap meet when i was 10 i would buy Crash Bandicoot 3 and in a box on the floor was the "Undesirables" Chrono Cross and this game are what i can remember pulling out and i couldn't decide since this edgy grey spikey haired guy told me if i buy one more game, ANY, FOR ANY PRICE he will throw one in for free. Grabbed Scooby-Doo and The Cyber Chase and went home with Xenogears.
