This game is going to be analyzed until the end of time. I got to give it to Takashi. Way above his time. Higher IQ than most people for sure. Then he just hits us with the Future Redeemed radio and "Alpha"...1? looking like Deus?? whatever this next Xeno iteration will be im all in. Its time to see the complete story. Gloves off, deep, controversial and thought provoking. if Square can do it with FF7, there's unlimited potential with this.

How the ship the eldrige is destroyed from my understanding might be a reference to megazone 23. I have not watched the anime movie trilogy but I plan doing so to confirm this. But it might be good to watch to confirm for yourself.

I’ve seen Megazone, and I own Animeigo’s new blu-ray set of the whole series, but admittedly I haven’t watched it in a while. It seems like something Takahashi would take influence from, so I’ll plan on giving it a rewatch soon.

Hi, I help with a mod called perfect works for Xenogears, & one of our biggest things is fixing the script which includes getting these references more accurate to what they should be (I made sure bledavik was breidablik as an example) & just wanted to say we appreciate what you’re doing. A lot of these took a lot of digging as you surely can confirm & we’re trying to find out some of these still so this is incredibly helpful for us.

When you were showing the similarities to Xenogears and Gundam, I realized it was exactly like the twilight princess manga. Maybe this is a more common trope in the heroes journey. Or it could just be that twilight princess was inspired by early media such as Xenogears and Gundam. Great video looking forward to part 2

Ive always wanted to do this kind of thing, I'm glad you did one. I feel like the art of Testuyas rich philosophical/reglious/psychological basis is sometimes lost or buried to new people of the Xeno multiverse. Especially considering after trying to tell the same rich formula of storytelling many times it was the elements of gacha and a great Nintendo console that pushed the franchise into mainstream attention. Xenosaga honestly feels like it takes elements of the Formula and goes even more over the top.

I think I'm in agreement that Xenosaga is that much more dense and over the top - that's part of why I like it so much, and part of why the thought of doing a reference guide for that series feels so intimidating lol

Ideally, I'd like to get one out every two or three weeks. Some may take a little bit longer, as I want to break up the monotony by working other videos alongside these Xenogears ones, but I do actively plan on working to get the entire thing out within a reasonable time frame. There (thankfully) seems to be a lot of positive buzz about them already so I don't want to keep anyone waiting too long.

I've always been a little sad that Xenogears, like so many other Square 90s titles, got the budget and development timeframe that it did. You can tell that it's just something massive and then it suddenly takes a weird turn. FF7 was the same way, FF8 too. Games just weren't allowed to even considered for massive, years long development cycles like films and AAA titles see today. Square has done a killer job making FF7 everything they wanted it to be with the Remake trilogy. I wish they would do the same for FF6 ...and... Xenogears. I know a cure for all cancer has a higher chance of happening than a Xenogears Remake but I still have hope something will come.

Even though I’m not the kind of person that thinks every good game should be remade, I think Xenogears is more than deserving, given how many development issues it had. That being said, if Takahashi isn’t directly involved, I’m not interested.

Maybe since Solaris references Nazi germany a bit (jugund) and their end goal is reviving Deus, the captain who's against deus's revival is named after someone who was against fascism as well? Idk, anyways this seems like it'll be a pretty cool series.
