Just to clarify, Fei is the Contact not the Antitype. That is Elly. Yes, "Lacan" made contact with the Zohar which resulted in creating "Grahf". When Lacan died, so did the contact's body. So when Grahf transferred bodies he's no longer the contact, only a personality. That's why Fei (the new Contact) and Grahf exists at the same time.

This was one epic battle in xenogears. Xenogears is a legendary game that all rpg players should experience. Most of my friends say this game is over rated but the story line,music and art design are a true work of art.

It's complex because it utilizes various concepts. The Zohar is inspired from The Monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey and throws religion and Jungian Psychology into the mix. The Gazel Ministry is based off of "The Advocacy" from The War of Worlds late 80s TV Series. Emperor Cain is both a Space Pope and the first Human born. Xenosaga is equally as complex when you toss in the Imaginary Number Domain and Jesus,Yeshua and Mary themselves into it. But really it's a space opera version of The Bible.

@@OrdinaryMan1999-tn4hh Similar to Evangelion's usage of biblical symbols and themes. The reason I would say these Japanese media adaptations are so much more interesting though is that unlike Westerners at the time, they weren't thinking about the pathos of Christians and instead used the elements of the bible in historical and philosophical aspects for the sake of entertainment so that even as a non-Christian, you can enjoy the story. Iirc, just like Evangelion, Westerners were scared that Xenogears would offend Christians. The complexity is allowed because of the freedom allowed without trying to be black and white about the views of Christians and the "word of God" that most media at the time were depicting.

@@johnsnowden3769 Yeah, good and evil being subjective. Also you have to understand Gnosticism was primarily focused upon more than christianity in the Xenogears universe. Deus being the Demiurge and The Wave Existence being seen as the "true" god even though it was just a being from a higher dimension. I have often wanted to create my own epic story inspired from this but what has always held me back was being too scared that it would break copyright.

Pro tip: Xenogears has 99% chance to enter hypermode regardless of current HP. Don't use the level 3 deathblow. Just X attack one more type and then O out of it. Ta da, 3 turns of hypermode. (6 if you have a holy pendant equipped on the character)

The Coward is the real Fei. He created Id as a way to avoid trauma. Notice that when you watch the cinematic where Mom dies, Fei's hair gets messed up and his skin color changes to ashen slightly which means he turned to Id AFTER that fireworks display that kills everyone. In a sense Fei was right was right when he said "we" killed mother. As for why Unified!Fei isn't stupidly overpowered, it's called Gameplay and Story Segregation. You already have Sword!Citan and Adult!Emeralda so piling

Well to be fair Grahf is far more easier with Xenogears than he was in the previous fight at Raziel Central (Raziel's Tree) and you technically can't lose the Ouroboros (System Hawwa aka Miang's genes personified) fight after you destroy Deus. You eliminate Deus and it's repair/improvement protocol in one go.

@zwady Because Fei's Weltall is a copy of Grahf's Weltall and yeah, once Fei accepted his role in life and was finally able to merge all his personalites he able to make a proper contact with the wave existence in the Zohar ,which is something none of his previous incarnations were able to do, and release the full power of Weltall as Xenogears

based on Grahf's said, its highly probable Lacan imperfect contact long ago was on purpose to create Grahf. Grahf existence is necessary to impede the real contact absorption in this case Fei, while Lacan might be fully aware Grahf's wrong doings also inevitable..... at least, this proves that Lacan not totally evil. Grahf and Diabollos collapse some small sacrifices for a better final result.

similiar concept to Houshin Engi, Prometheus, the Matrix trilogy (possibly any other stories/movies/manga?), but Xenogears is way better and more complex. Only smart and critical thinking gamers stick to this game until the end.

i finished 2 months ago, and only has to say, this game is incredible, is easily become my favorite game, this scene blow my mind, the sacrifice of Karen, his last moments with Fei, give me chills every time i see now, and the end the Welltall turning in the Xenogears and Grafh sacrifice for you, is so magnificul, truly a legendary game

This is what I've learned. According to Sigmund Freud's Ego theory, Everybody has 3 personalities. The ID, Ego, And Super Ego. It's like in a cartoon when someone has and Angel on one shoulder, And a Devil on the Other. Basically, ID is the Devil-side(Of course), Fei is the Angel-Side(Super Ego), And The Coward is the person who chooses between the 2(I think). I'm still not Completely sure...

You're actually on the mark with that. The coward is in a sense the original persona. The trauma split him off into the three. In this case Fei, id, and the coward. The coward was merely a persona between the two. Though because Id was more aware of their history he had more influence over the "coward."

I never really understood how Grahf got inside Kahn's body, is Grahf like Miang where his mind goes around finding a host body? And I also dont know what ID is either, I know he is a part of fei, but the thing is ID does not look anything like fei so how could they be one person? -_-

Actually danan3 is right. Fei had 4 personalities. The coward, the narrator, Id, and then current Fei. Remember in his memory sequence the one child version of Fei who is trying to get the coward to share the good memories with Fei. That is also a personality. Ultimately though the Fei from the village is the dominant Fei seeing as how Id can only control him when he is under extreme pressure. It was the coward that kept Id from taking over current Fei. So the coward was doing him a favor.

its a energy transfer thing with the zohar. if your will is strong enough you can harness the zohar at any time and lacan is synced to it allowing him to use its power as his own but, it wasnt a complete sync so he went insain and turned into grahf who can transfer his will to a new body well that parts complicated if you wanna know about id look up multipule personality disorders on web md thats whats up with fei

@zwady I always took it as it was Alpha Weltall WITH the Anima Relic, and "True Weltall" without it. I may have beaten that game 8 times but it's been at least five years since the last time, but this took place AFTER Dues absorbed all the Anima, right?

Both Alpha Weltall and True Weltall are the same thing really. It's probably an error in translation since Xenogears perfect works reffer to this gear as OR Weltall which probably stands for Original Weltall. I think the only way to prove it is to get a copy of Japanese Xenogears and take notice of what kind of kanji is used during both encounters in Razael's Tree and in Zohar Cave.

Alpha weltall is the omnigear. True or original weltall is the regular gear. Weltall was created technically by grahf for Fei.

@Hells616 so in other words, ID is the real Fei? Then this question has always been unanswered, how come disk 2 when ID gives Fei his memory back, Fei does not have the super powers like ID does? I know Fei got Xenogears but how come Fei dont got the powers to destroy Gears with his bare hands like ID? Of course the only time Fei can destroy gears with his fist is when you are already high lvl and goto Aveh desert and fight those Aveh Gears for revenge on them trying to kill you on disk 1 lol

What I find fascinating about this game is one, the connection to Kaballah and Zohar...ancient knowledge. Two, the themes but three, the multiple personality disorder thing. The thing is, the disorder actually comes from abuse/trauma usually. While it happens SOMETIMES in people...it usually happens when done on purpose. What is fascinating is this is what has happened to some gifted children (with abilities) by the gov, in order to train them....resulting in disassociation from trauma, like Fei

This game is propaganda/predictive programming, where the powers the run the world have fictionalized their plans and fed it to us through a video game. The disassociated state is the demonic possession Jesus was curing people of in the bible.
