one minor detail i'll miss from the alpha and beta is the aliens had different blood colors. Sebillians (the lizards) had greenish blood, the mantids had this yellowish-green "bug blood", and the reapers had this sickly greenish colored blood. It wasn't just purple across the board.

I like the Colonel too. I feel like if we had cinematics for him. He don't speak and most just grunts, has very little, if any facial expressions. But you'd know he would be the most ride or die homie on the base.

The story difference between X1 and X2 was explained long ago in the dev blogs. Basically the prelude book from X1 is still cannon, the US and Soviets fucking nuke an alien battleship over greenland, the Xenonauts are formed. Yadda yadda, except in X1 the aliens show up for a full invasion about a year later. In X2, they just, don't show up. Presumably the aliens from the Greenland Incident went 'fuck this' and just left after we went nuclear on their ass, or the battleship was a forward scout and it just took the rest of the fleet over 50 years to get here.

See, I thought that too but there are some key differences that make me think something deeper is at play. Primarily, the alien's FTL method has changed, as has a lot of their races. Additionally, the aliens start out with mag weaponry, which was humanity's end-game option in the previous game. This makes me think that the two are connected deeper somehow. I suppose we'll find out when the game releases with a completed story!

alternatively, they're different aliens entirely - the first group got nuked and the rest went "oh, these apes are Space Detroit, let's not go there" but maybe the X2 aliens didn't get the memo. The mag weapon thing is suspicious, though, and I look forward to whatever the real answer is.

No 7.62 isn't being stopped by bushes, but bushes aren't cover......they're concealment. Your accuracy isn't dropped because its stops bullets, its stopped because you can't effectively see what you're shooting at. Its like smoke grenades, you know something is there, but you cant exactly place it.

Am i the only one who is a bit disappointed this isn't based on terror from the deep like the first game was based on the original x-com? Just looking at it it's hard to tell the difference between 1 and 2. Tftd was just different enough to feel right at home when starting the game for the first game. When looking at this i get a feeling of "I've been here before."

@dr white I manage to find and report most of the bugs in the game since i got full access for beta testing of the game. The Bug you encounter it's about game stuck when enemy is doing reaction fire. Anyway i am planning in a future doing Commander+Ironman+No Damage run. GL HF.

Don't do this man. I never got over my PTSD from that one terror mission. Context, I got spawned in a mission where every alien had a plasma RPG and teleported. The fuckers were turning the town into Fallujah. Had to drop the game permanently for my health. Ahem, ramblings aside. I did find an older game called UFO Aftermath. It's old and missing a few key features from a regular XCOM style game, but I find the concept of its real time feature interesting. What are your thoughts?

UFO Afterblank was good. Pretty janky (especially Aftershock, was notoriously cursed. Today it just bugs out and prevents you from progressing in a crucial mission, but back then it apparently killed your computer) but still a solid series. Also yeah, Wraiths are annoying. Fortunately they cannot attack after they teleport, so you have exactly one turn to discover them and kill them. Still annoying.

Yeah, having been a big fan of the original x-com, it's true successor xenonauts, and now xenonauts 2, the one thing I'd really like a deeper weapons system with more tradeoffs. Like, there's a hint at this (lasers destroy more armor than magenetics!) but it doesn't actually do any good. There is a best weapon, you take the best weapon, donezos. I'd like to see that expanded so you have good reasons to consider your loadout before every fight. Like...lasers are good against heavily armored sebiliwhatsits, but not great against the little green guys. Or whatever. Same with armor. Have different baddies carry different types of weapons so you wanna change that up to.

How does the game handle elevated trajectories? One annoying issue I had with xenonauts 1 is that the game treated elevated terrain as though it was flat, resulting in some impossible shots where an alien on the ground can nail a soldier from across the map when he's on the middle of the roof, or a tank fails to shoot over a car at an airborne target.

200 hrs?! lol just my streams are over 500. HOWEVER I instantly quit X2 when I entered an alien ship by a SINGLE tyle and I got 2 full aim shot to the face... FROM THE SAME ENEMY! and ofcourse my unit 2 tiles IN behind FULL cover no LOS got suprressed by an enemy. Yep, seening bullets fly makes you supprsed even from 2 full tiles away, even if its tangentual to you while youre in FULL indistructable cover. The sad part about this is it means that even if you would trigger this attack by a unit, you literally cannot have other units next to the entrance, even far back even several tiles away from the entrance as they STILL get suppressed, so they cannot charge in as the distance would be sooo high youll never pull off a shot.
