When my husband and I bought our home, we got a side by side fridge with ice and water dispenser. As an American, I’ve never had one and while growing up I always thought my friends were rich if they had one. How many jokes I heard from my mother on law about how the American just has to have this big fridge….when the truth is it was her Italian son that really wanted it 🤷🏻♀️

I'm French and I have to say having good HCPs is very hit and miss here (not that I don't believe you've experienced xenophobia - I am sure you have). My son is autistic and I've had very mixed experiences in the care he's had so far. My daughter needed a major surgery last year and we went to a children's hospital in Paris and the care was top notch. Made the whole horrible experience a lot easier. Having said that, I gave birth to my two children in the UK and I am so thankful for that because I only hear horror stories from my friends and colleagues. I can't imagine what it would be like for an American giving birth in France.

Now to see this video is upsetting, especially about something so pointless as to care about what you do with your own apartment. Taylor Swift is right-haters gonna hate. These are unhappy people who think they can find some joy in stealing it from others, even though it doesn’t work that way. You can’t fix them. Ignore them please. The ones who insult you are most likely retrogrades who still believe that the husband works and is the breadwinner, while the woman has all the sayso in the house management/furnishing/style etc. And I say this, and I am an Italian who is married to an American. We live in Italy, and we bought our first apartment 5 years ago. It isn't a nice comment, but I see where the poster is coming from. With people like Chris Pratt/Catherine Schwarzenegger demolishing an icon of 20th century architecture to build a trendy modern farmhouse and the whole "sad beige mom" trend, it is upsetting to see the charm and character of a certain style stripped away for a trend. I don't think that's what will happen here, I'm just saying I can see where the comment is coming from. It isn't necessarily xenophobia either. The Pratt/Schwarzenegger and sad beige thing are Americans calling out other Americans.

Who cares what anyone else thinks of your remodel?! You're the only one that has to live with it and should design it to your liking. I am excited to see what you do though.

Like my mom used to say. You have to take comments with a grain of salt. There are so many people that are not happy these days so they take it out on people they don't know.😢

Don't listen to these fools. I'm sure the renovation will be beautiful.❤

Seeing you happy and living your best life is all I'm here for. Your videos inspire people to be their best selves, too (unless they're determined to be nasty, which is their choice, unfortunately)

The thing is... When you're European you're used to neighbouring countries having generalized opinions about your country. It's on a spectrum. When you're not used to hearing about other people's opinions in that way it feels weird. But when you look at it you gotta admit there's always a reason that idea exists, and that can help take it in stride. You probably have tons of these ideas about Mexicans and Canadians, you're just not in a position where those are being elicited.

Remember, Italians and the Irish weren’t considered white as recently as the early 20 th century. Whiteness giveth and whiteness taketh away.

What does the comment even mean? 😅 I've never been an apartment/home owner so I wouldn't know what "popular" US interior design this person is making fun of. That sounds more like a description of what is installed in low income housing (my place in France included). I have to use my own small lamps to soften the lighting in my studio apartment lol

Hah, I feel a bit called out 😆 Not gonna lie, I was thinking «ooh, I wish they would live there a while before making changes. I think opening up rooms and making structural changes might be a rash decision. It’s important to honor the history of the space and think hard before making changes» It wasn’t connected to being a woman or American, though. More of a fiftyplus mom brain thinking «oh, the young people of today, they make such quick decisins that might be hard and costly to reverse». But I’m also sure you have thought it through, and it’s gonna be amazing. Best of luck, can’t wait to see the results, if you are ok to share them 💕

Never post something that you don't feel comfortable sharing with others. People these days have the idea that they're entitled to know everything about everyone (especially celebrities and content creators/influencers,) but really it's none of their business! It's not like they're going to be living in the apartment, so what does it matter to them how you chose to renovate it? Jeez, people really are nuts sometimes.

*Comedians and people telling jokes about how it's always the woman in charge of the renovation of the house while the man wouldn't do anything by himself* *Meanwhile: my husband telling me we should repaint the walls of MY studio (the place I spent most of my day in) because mould is starting to come out on the top corner of the room while ME (the one spending most of the time in the studio) have never noticed it until he said it* Guess I'm not a woman 😅😅😅

I wouldn’t have even given enough thought to such comments in order to have arrived at the conclusion you did. It’s not worth your time, imo.

I'm sorry you're receiving xenophobic and sexist comments. I'm sure whatever you guys decide to do will be perfect. Btw just in case you missed it, dearmodern the fung shui guy here on youtube did a stitch of your extra long bathroom video and had some great layout ideas for it.

How about you make videos about the before and after and just disable the comment section~
