@LasttoLoad
@LasttoLoad 3 жыл бұрын
Great video, it is a good guide to learn how to start a combo. To avoid using flash attack, either Flux>switch weapon (guard to cancel flux animation) or sheath weapon before switching weapon with R1+O. Then again, it is definitely easier to avoid using it by unlearning that skill.
@Xenoswarm
@Xenoswarm 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Yeah I can flash cancel but it's so annoying having to add that extra layer of complexity to something that's complicated enough. Especially when you want to Switch into Tonfa and activate demon dance from delayed weapon switch Ki-Pulse. Almost impossible to do that one with Flash Attack on. No idea why there isn't an option to de-activate it like other skills.
@elmerfudd5796
@elmerfudd5796 3 жыл бұрын
Using the sheath to weapon change and altering the timing of when you press down takes care of the weapon change flux issue. Do R1, O down at the same time and R1, O and a delayed Down to alter how it'll work without having to do animation cancel.

Hey! Lasttoload! Big fan dude! You weapon switching, animation cancel vids completely changed the way i play! Along with pooferllamas idea about using under leveled weps to force yourself to really work hard to survive ea encounter ie procing confusion, hammering on ki, using all your yokai abillities etc...this game is insanely much more fun now. Im halfway~ through DotW. Thanx guys for ALL your hard work!!!! Youve made my days off work even more fun now.😆

Awesome vid, I've been waiting for some more hatchet focused stuff. As a new player to the Nioh series, I'm stil getting the hang of many things, but finding hatchet specific stuff seems kinda hard as most people I seem to gather don't like or rate them very much
@TheDiamondSkye
@TheDiamondSkye 3 жыл бұрын
There's a lot of hatchet stuff out there. You'll be switching from low to high stance quite often, to apply serious stagger damage and then going into mid stance for overall damage and breaking as well. I use hatchets and they're fun if you can understand the idea behind them. Not a lot of people use it because other stuff has more representation. If you want to look at someone who's absolutely exceptional, there's whitegoat, who uses hatchets/spear as his main weapon, though he uses every weapon in the game and styles with every single one of em. The problem you might have is that, xenoswarm does high damage in very little time, where as whitegoat plays very methodically with A agility-- dodging a lot. Also, both use different abilities and are also very different in terms on stagger pressure and animation cancelling-- xeno does a lot of setup for burst damage while whitegoat is optimal at all times in terms of stagger pressure, but takes kind of a long time to kill an enemy. It's all about what kind of playstyle you're into my man. Your best bet is to understand animation cancelling with ninjutsu-- finding out how many moves have that window and using them almost all the time. I use 6-7 different weapons and interchange between all of them, you'd be surprised which ones are easier than others: tonfa low stance r1+triangle cancel is hard as absolute fuck compared to sword high stance triangle cancel.

@@TheDiamondSkye I appreciate the words. I tried to check out WhiteGoat, I don't speak japanese so can't search the channel for keywords and all his videos are 6+ hours long so clicking on a few and trying to skip through and seeing no hatchets and not knowing how long ago they used Hatchets. I mean, I'd say that was the definition of pretty hard to find information for an English speaker, more so as you admit, their representation is lower. So if that's my best shot....oO
@samuraicake5015
@samuraicake5015 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheDiamondSkye I would appreciate that, I will happily join Xeno's Discord as I've been enjoying watching some of the videos. I did notice the Hatchet builds being a little older and seeming to have some abilities missing. I have OCD so, I tend to get choice paralyse quite hard and annoyed if I don't think I'm being efficient. I was mainly looking for staple Hatchet Combos, the best skills for different enemy types as I noticed I've had real big trouble with some more human bosses where I don't seem to be able to deal as much Ki Damage as I'd want to with the melee range being small and the throws sometimes not being optimal. And then, we weapons are good with the hatchets, I'm enjoying using the Odachi on the side and I assume I could make that work eventually. I'm trying not to think about builds too much on my first playthrough, but I know I'll eventually focus fully on Magic to have Magic scaling for the Hatchets. I'm picking up mostly random Shifting and Magic skills as I don't really know what's best. Though the Lifeseal talisman used in this vid seems cool. I've just switched over to a lightning based Hatchet build , as the feral starter seems to have stats for it. I wanted to go fire but I don't have the stats to get the best out of things like Nine Tails or Tengun. I've gone for a light armor A agility style of hatchets. Which may not play well with Odachi, but oh well XD

The build I was using wouldn't really be viable for anyone who wasn't in the final difficulties. That's why you can use any weapon combination with end-game builds, because you can change the stats on any weapon. Try not to worry so much about builds until you're deep in NG+, use the time to test lots of different things :)

Absolutely true about fighting games. To play any of them at a high level, especially something like Tekken, it has to be muscle memory. If you have to think, it's too late. That said, as you mentioned, there are times when you back up and begin the neutral game, and that's when the thinking kicks in. Absolutely the thing I love most about games like Nioh and the Souls series. You have to do very different things at very different times, all within the context of a great story and insane customization.
@seedmole

I've had great results play Fists with a focus on Anima recovery. I'll use Archyokai Talisman, and Wolf Claw to generate huge amounts of anima. Add to that the modifier from the Soul Core Box accessory and you can dip below zero Anima. From there, you have so much control that finishing out any fight is pretty simple.

They’re to freshen up the gameplay for those who want it. Efficiency without cheese like sloth on nin/omy jutsu. It’s up to you if you want to learn these or not. I too see there’s no real reason to learning some other than getting creative. Some of these are infinite loops tho which are combos. An infinite stun can be a form of combos.
@knightslayer6161
@knightslayer6161 3 жыл бұрын
@@nekoraver6179 why are you calling them “assassins”? And I’m not new. There’s multiple times where he says you don’t have to copy exactly what he does. They’re templates. You can easily change an attack in a combo if you want with a different soul core or skill. There’s only like what, 2 times he uses lightening with stun loop? Because it’s a purple enemy…so ofc he’s gonna turn them into a punching bag 😂😂😂. Who the hell wants to be fancy on a purple enemy.

@@knightslayer6161 ahh sorry for the misunderstanding. this little bell reply this is hard to tell what game it is sometimes. I thought this was a blade and soul thread i was in. your reply was hella late and i forgot about it. But my point still stands. run in circles all you want but when you lock down the boss with lighting, nothing you do after that will impressive. try doing your combo's and pressure while the boss can move instead of just rolling your face back and forth after you lock down the boss. My disappointment still stands at the lack of skill.

It's always funny when people bring up tekken. I mean, coming from someone who understands what you mean almost to it's core, it's just interesting how people compare it to something like tekken because it is like tekken in terms of intuition and overall game sense. Though, as a fighting game player, I tend to more so enjoy the raw combat and figuring out the stagger pressure, than to use use 10 different buffs to do damage to an enemy.
