Crazy saying Dandadan is overhyped. Coming from a writer, the story is incredibly witty. It’s a story about a boy literally finding the balls to become a man. It keeps the reader/watcher engaged, it’s hilarious but handles the serious tones surprisingly well, and it’s got the writers own flare to it that simply can’t be copied. The way this story is set up currently could absolutely put it on the same story writing tier as Demonslayer and JJK. Idk about Naruto though. None of the aforementioned shows even come close to Naruto…. Kishimoto seriously wrote his ASS off making that one.

I think what DanDaDan has over Demon Slayer or MHA is sincerity. A lot of shonen is very by-the-note spectacle with very limited themes and values, but DanDaDan really sells the full extent of heightened chaos that adolescence represents. I think it gets points for that kind of purity, which I only really see in shows like JJK or Chainsaw Man.

Bro great reaction and funny as hell. I was also thinking that while Dan Dan Dan is fun and has great visuals and plot, to me it doesn't feel on the same tier as some of the other heavy hitter shows. I think this is specially true considering how the show is laid back and doesn't take itself seriously, so I feel it's intended to be that way - an entertaining show that's sometimes emotional but not super serious. An example of how the show is laid back are some plot holes and lack of world building details (and how in the Dan Dan Dan universe they ignore the general population's reaction to the explosions and world-changing phenomenon occurring, as opposed to JJK and MHA who address this point and try to have an air-tight grip on the narrative). The cypher was insane and came as a surprise! All the artists went crazy, the FabvL and DPS parts were exceptionally hilarious. I was not ready for the image of DPS unclogging the toilet lol.

It may be a hot take but I don't want beat switch in the cypher, as it puts every single artist on the same level which makes makes rapping/flow part more shine, also as fabvl once said in his tweet something like same beat makes the cypher kinda like a completion and best verse goes to the person who actually rapped the hardest

Although artistically I can agree with some of your reasoning, I just don't think a random person who stumbles on a cypher would stay until the end without any beat transitions or anything. Comparing views of cyphers with the same beat vs diff beat kinda tells that story. I think there's a stronger case for one beat if it's a competitive bar for bar cypher, and this one was fun and not everyone came to spit their most lyrical verse. But the solution would be maybe not having completely different beats, but 2-3 beats with similar vibe and sound so it still all meshes well into each other? Just thinking out loud not sure if that's right

And to those comparing it to One punch man in style, I think one punch is wayyy more deserving of its hype. I laughed way more during that one, and still wanted to click on "next episode". At least that's how I measure it if we getting nerdy - a hype to anticipation ratio

Overhyped is what I said and this level of hype Dandadan got is at the level of a goated anime, which it hasn't really proved itself to be so far. I could not wait until the next episode back on all the animes I mentioned. With Dandadan, hey it's a good anime, but I'm not on the edge of my seat to find out what happens next 👀
