The silicon sleeve is a truly genius move, now a few that have not wanted a prosthesis just because of how it sticls out, but with the added silicone sleeve it pretty much dissapear if you don't look for it, seems that it must be glued on with skin adhesive when applied to the hand but good thing about silicone is that ypu can clean it of easily 😁 well done!

I lost the last joint on left hand index finger. I used to play guitar. That index finger is the most used finger in playing the guitar. This device has the right bend on last joint to permit noting strings individually. I think this would allow me to play again! It would be a dream come true for me! Whoever makes this, I would love to talk to them. Thanks, Mike

My father lost the last joint of the right index this weekend. He is a flamenco guitar player, and he's concerned that he may not be able to play again. We just discovered this finger prothesis, so what's the end of your story? Were you able to play the guitar again with this?

Great invention... so practical for people who may have lost a digit, or were born with mal formed digit.. Also may be interesting as a augments for people with short fingers how may need the extra resources that longer finger provide, like playing a piano or certain jobs. They may also be employed as gloves on soldiers withe retractable ultra strong, sharp, and light weight retractable blades for combat.. perhaps with power assist to increase finger strength.

I agree, even though it is awesome... they may fine tune it be doing some adjustment on the finger alignment. And why not... why not make the alignment more naturally balanced with the other fingers.. it is minor task relative to the building of the finger and may also provided for over all, less maintenance on the finger as well.

@BitsInAByte Thanks for the response on this. I do get along fine for the most part without the finger. Typing is sometimes awkward and catching things in the right hand took some getting used to . I think a device like this would actually get in the way more that it would help.

consider this... if cars are essentially mechanical prosthetics for human transportation, augmenting what human legs can do. And that car transport has become essential for livelyhood, then we may already be a majority of humans relying on machines as parts of us. That doesn't even factor in the scores of people using glasses, contact lenses and partial or full dentures, which allow people to see and eat.

This is awesome. Truly. I lost only the tip of my little finger. I can type and have sensation on the end. I have adjusted. At first it felt like I was touching things with the side of my little finger. Cause it was the side that was wrapped to cover the bone end. Xfinger is not perfect but its as close and you can get to the real thing. Bravo!!! perhaps a more flexible "skin" sheath?

Does the VA cover this item? I lost the fifth finger on my right hand in the Navy. I lost my finger at the proximal phalanx (I think that is what it was called) and I have just a small portion of bone, approx 5-8 mm protruding from the knuckle, though it appears that there is no finger at all. I wonder though, as I did 20 years ago when I first lost it, would such a prosthetic get in the way more than help?

Hi, i miss a peace of three fingers and I don't need nothing to do anything, I have a 100% functionality. I agree, it is definitely progress in a good way. Future prothetic fingers will probably have enhanced tip sensing... on another note.. the person could have a different finger that is a bit longer an with greater girth... and perhaps with some fibration capability for ... uh... hemmm... sexually pleauring thier partner.. or perhaps themself... just a thought.

umm, the pinky finger ins't so important as the thumb. if you lose you're thumb you lose 90% of grip modes and mobility, while loosing the pinky it reduces you to just 10%. so no biggie.
