Lol I’ve beat you all Adam I was trawling eBay and one came up and I couldn’t believe it there was one for £200 pounds I snapped it up straight away it just had bit of hanger rash but after I bought it the guy contacted me and said he had mucked up it should have gone to auction but he mistakenly did buy it now so he said my mistake is your gain lol I couldn’t thank him enough lol I can’t wait to build it but I need to find somewhere to fly it but what a result I’m getting the Alfa one soon the red white and blue one I prefer the grey one but here in uk we get loads of grey days and I’d probably lose it with my eyesight lol , all the best to you and family from uk , G🇬🇧

Very nice flying demo. I like how the gear struts can flex, the landing lights, and how the doors all close. Your flying was quite smooth and really looked good. And thanks for giving the geese a break !

Best 80 military jet in my hanger. Love the tailerons, the noise and the easy orientation. Upgraded to a 120A hobbywing esc and edf to 2000kv fms and fly mine on 7s and 8s just for more veritcal power. Id 100% buy another if i lost it. Great review as always 👍🏾

I upgrade all my 80mm 100A EDFs to the 130 Avian ESC with internal reverse thrust, it appears to the receiver as an assignable extra channel. Plus, the extra 30A means the ESC will run a little cooler, won't increase power but the resistance will be quite relatively lower.

I have one as well, I absolutely love the way she flies! I agree with you flaperons are a must for this bird, I have a 9 channel RX at the moment, but I have my steering separated and reverse thrust active. I'll be using a 10 channel soon, so I can also have elevons. I use that setup on the 64mm 6s conversion T7a I have as well. 😅 Great video, keep up the awesome work. 👍

Thanks for the informative review. I have one but struck some issues with the build, one dead servo (right rudder) due to bad connection in the middle of the jet, as well as a badly aligned elevator control surface. All sorted now and ready for a maiden. But one thing that really surprised me with your set up was you said you used 100% control throws. The manual calls for what I considered really small control throws particularly the rudder. Your 100% throws would be over 4 times the amount of throws in the manual (I'm also using an 8 channel Spektrum Rx with AS3X - so throws would be the same). I was going to maiden with 3 flight modes, low rates with the recommended throws, which for the rudder were like 20% throws, medium rates (which is double recommended throws) and high, but I don't think my high was 100% particularly the rudders as that seemed just way beyond the manual suggested throws. I would be interested in your thoughts. I assumed that you maidened it with recommended rates/throws on one switch but found it too docile???

I'm glad you got yours sorted. I'm used to more sensitive airplanes and I like a lot of throw. That said you could go with much less rudder than I did on this plane and be fine. I liked the elevator and ailerons at 100%. Roll rate seemed about right and all that elevator made a nice flare on landing easy. Everyone is different, but I prefer more throw. I can tame it with expo, and I'm pretty smooth on the sticks. I'd rather have more than I need than not enough.

I only fly mine off grass.. perfectly fine and pops up easily. Landing just make sure u are straight before touch down as she's tippy like an F16

Hey Martyn! I see Mark chimed in. I haven't flown it off grass. My only concern would be the front gear door...hangs down pretty low so I would imagine if the grass in well manicured and low, good to go. If it is tall, maybe not.

Great flying as ever Adam. Would like to have seen how much it can be slowed down on a flypast with flaps down. Also stall and spin characteristics including flying a loop. Any observations on those?

Yeah on the Quick Look/Fun Flight vids these are planes that have been out at least a year and reviewed a lot already, so we give a quick informative overview and just fly them the way we want to that day. Sometimes that may include stalls, sometimes not. It's a bit different than a review in that we don't always put the full flight testing profile on camera. Gives us a little different format to play with that doesn't take as much time to get together as a full review...which takes a great deal of time to put together because we are so detailed. Anyway, this one slows down well for a scale jet, and like many it will drop a wing if you take it to a full on stall, but it recovers quickly if you neutralize the controls. It doesn't spin, but if you hold the full up elevator in it will spiral down...many jets will do the same. Power on stall it will slightly high alpha, but not nearly as good as an F-16.

I'm very interested in this 80mm EDF, at this time over the Freewing F/A-18C Hornet Blue Angels High Performance 90mm. I'm curious as to if you have an opinion, or and comments on the FMS EDF Jet 80mm BAE Hawk?

I have flown the 80mm Hawk. Similar power to this one. Wider gear stance, so a bit easier there, but it really is up to the styling. They are all good flying planes.The F-18 takes a bit more skill than the other two and is more particular to set up. Flies great though when it is right. If you are a decently skilled EDF pilot, I'd just get the one you think is the coolest.

Last, possible silly question. I spend much of my stick time inverted; between the XFly T-7A, and BAE Hawk which handles better?

Pretty even. Usually if they are solid right side up they do fine inverted.

Interesting. Did you calibrate your ESC? Also, watching our flight how would you categorize that power wise? I'm trying to get a feel for what you consider under powered as opinions vary. To me it was average for a more scale full featured 80mm EDF. For our scale flying style there is plenty in our opinion.
