You gotta love UMX planes!! You can have a bunch and they take up next to no room in the hangar at all, they fly wonderfully in the wind (oftentimes even better than larger models!), can be flown very easily in a park setting, and they're fun to collect! Great video Adam, thanks for sharing the joy of these small wonders!

You just commented and didn't watch the vid didn't you. Lol. Its about the smoking deals you can get on great flying used UMX planes. As far as the new ones - Everything's relative I suppose. All planes cost more today than a few years ago, then again so does gas, milk, fast food, and everything else we pay for.
@timmer711Күн бұрын
You’re absolutely wrong! I watch your videos and in all honesty enjoy them immensely. You’re very talented, love the scale flying, the commentary, and her camera work is fantastic. You’re correct it’s all relative, I’m just saying those smoking deals are gone out here where I live in California along with pretty much a lost hobby in my area. Closest real hobby shop is close to 100 miles away. But I’m happy to have the planes that I do along with being able to fly in my yard. All the best to you and keep up the excellent work. I know it takes time.
@ModelAV8RChannelКүн бұрын
We appreciate you watching very much! The thing is, there are sources we mention in the video that involve used planes via mail order...so you have access to that regardless of how far hobby shops are from you. With facebook marketplace you might even find someone close enough to drive to that has something you want. Worth checking out from time to time. The big swap meet I go to every year is 2 hours away from me. I'd drive longer...its that good. See if there is a swap meet anywhere near you and it might be worth it too. Also check out JUSTWINGIT on youtube. That's my buddy John. He lives in California as well and might know better places to look out there. He's always horse trading planes.

I have the older version of this plane. Wheels are totally different and no gyro. I already flew it into a tree and snapped it in half but fixed it. Then today the wings ripped off lol. Probably residual from the tree accident. Watching you control it so well is infuriating. I hope to get there some day. You're soooooooooo accurate. I hear a lot of throttle variation. I can't fathom that you made the plane do all that. Pleasure to watch you fly the same plane. I will let you know how many bottles of glue this thing can fly with when I finally learn how to fly the damn thing.

Just remember adam, we were supposed to be flying cars at the year 2000. I dont think drone delivery will ever happen in my life time. Im 57. Just a speculation like you said. Im kinda concerned about all these sub 250 planes being pushed out to the public and the FAA will go after them next. Just a thought. Wait and see. I live in western oregon. I never see anyone flying planes or running rc boats, people here are just amazed. I think it will come down to where you live and the popularity of rc in your area. I can do what ever i want and nobody knows anything lol. But the midwest and down south is going to be different. We'll just keep on going until we cant. Love your channel.

Hopefully we are okay on the sub 250g stuff. So little mass. I actually got hit in the head with a UMX Beast, Lol. I laughed it off. Surprised me more than it hurt me. There is so much money being spent to get the Drone industry going I don't know if we can avoid it. I'd like to. The logistics are a big question mark. How do you deliver with a drone to a residential area anyway? Drop it in the yard? That would make it easier for porch pirates. What if there are kids playing in the yard...then what? Lots of questions. Like you said, just speculation until we see what happens.

As always Adam, great job on the videos and reporting news to us. That said, although new (back into the hobby after a long absence) I too have six UMX planes and really like them for different reasons. Actually you don't. That isn't how it works. You don't need a RID module for every plane you own. You buy a single RID module...only one. Register it with the FAA and put some Velcro on it. You move it from plane to plane. It simply has to be in the plane you're flying at the time. At a FRIA, no RID required, just altitude restrictions that vary per FRIA.

@ModelAV8RChannel2 күн бұрын
The runway in this video is pavement. Geo runways vary in price. Depends on size obviously, but also on the amount of prep before laying it down. To be done "right", the ground needs to graded and rolled. Then let it settle a couple of weeks, add fill dirt and roll it again. Then lay it down. We just graded and rolled it, then put it down...we have all kinds of bumps and undulations as a result.

You know what Adam - watching your video - it has suddenly become apparent to me that the UK have had the same system that the USA is now heading for (that is all apart from the Remote ID- at the moment) - we have really not been able to just roll up at any location and fly - even in parks they have regulations that prevent it, and as for doing it on roads - we would be closed down very quickly indeed by the local police force... your FRIAs are in fact nothing more than our BMFA approved and registered RC Clubs - when it comes here (RID) - which it will.... I guess "I'm all right Jack" would be my case - but even if it was not, I would get a Remote ID module(given they can be swapped between aircraft) without hesitation. now having said all of this - you will never get me to go small - Bigger flys better no matter how good the small ones are, if they made a big one with the same tech it would fly better.... Maybe the day will come when all we can fly are the small 250g models because or CAA here in the UK and FAA in the USA, are bowing down to Commercial pressures (so that the corporations can follow the Money) - when that day comes, I will toss my hat in and say "so long and thanks for all the fish"...

To me, a big help to the RID issue on the FAA side would be to reevaluate the 250 gram weight limit. If I recall from the top of my head, the entire basis of the 250 gram number comes from an "experiment" in which they threw pencils at sheets of store bought aluminum foil. They didn't try anything properly scale like say colliding an Efilte twin otter into the side of a cessna or ramming a Freewing F-18 into the windshield of a 737, they didn't do anything that would have produced worthwhile data. I love UMX models, and I'm happy that more companies are moving into the UMX and "Bigger than UMX, but smaller than 1m wingspan" market, but increasing the 250gram number would definitely be a good step forward.
@ModelAV8RChannel2 күн бұрын
That's an idea, but interpretation is variable. The results of such tests might not come out like you think they would. It all depends on how THEY look at it. The tests you suggested might render something else to be regulated. I'm good if they leave it alone...

@@kianwong4625 mine are all set to 95. Rudder servo on the UMX AT was wonky out of the box. But, it's part of the main board and it "kind of" worked for a few months. So, I just dealt with it.
