Welcome to ALPHAZ. When you were about to take a sip of your drink right when Jurin was about to drop some bars on Shooting Star I was thinking, "this man bout to choke on his drink" hahaha. About the K-pop comparison, it isn't K-pop, you're correct. But I think we need to move past trying to label pop music. The girls (XG) are facing a lot of backlash in Korea for training/promoting there (a lot of this comes from comments that the CEO of AVEX said that was out of their control). They deserve to be judged on the quality of their work, not what nationality they are. They received so much hate for non-trivial things in Korea like not mentioning a Korean artists when asked what music inspired them, instead they mentioned groups like TLC, Spice Girls, Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars. All artists that have influence in Pop in general. It's a shame they aren't being more celebrated just because of their nationality. They are too good to be ignored, they will be global. And with K-pop stans trying so hard to distance themselves from them, will only do more harm than good. XG is the perfect gateway to K-pop and people need to embrace that.

The first girl in chrous part of Tipoy Toes the front one girl is Jurin. She is the leader, dancer and rapper line of XG. And the second one on Mascara mv when you say "I like her" she is Harvey rapper line and dance of XG

@@rjkpop have to ask honestly… Was the beat/vibe what you were expecting? (Re: Shooting Star chorus) I felt like that’s what your reaction reminded me of … as if you were both relieved and thrilled. If not, then I’m just projecting. lol The extreme difference between the verse and the pre-chorus inspired the thought while the latter was ending. I was like, “Okay, it has to be something in between the two sounds; so… a strong beat but chill sound. And this final bit of the pre-chorus is making me think we’re going toward mid-tempo r&b…” AND THEN BAM! 😍 Spot on.

I didn’t expect the switch up from the initial beat, but why I loved it so much is that it stayed with that beat for so long from pre-chorus to chorus and didn’t leave me feeling like I wanted more of that melody. Totally my kind of musical taste. Happy surprise!

Bro the amount of people that said the same thing about Shooting Star, that it’s SOTY... forreal, this comeback was INSANE. They are so succesful and well received, I just hope this song gets sent to America, it would smash. I hope more reactions ( dance practices, video performances on their channel, chyper, etc ) come soon! Seriously, they are regarded as some of the best, if not THE BEST girl group performers at the moment, they are just INCREDIBLE, this is a group of dancers, I can’t wait to see your reactions.

my f**king DAUGHTERS!!!! yuhh, get into it lmao. jurin, the leader, is the one who initially caught your attention (like you said), her bone structure (face) is chiseled by the GODS, chisa, to me, resembles gowon from loona if you really look at her, hinata has the lightest hair usually, harvey looks like camila cabello/looks hispanic, juria honestly reminds me of chuu (bubbly, naturally cute) but that’s my baby regardless 🥹 maya resembles rosé in certain angles, and cocona is the baby (just to help you familiarize yourself with their faces). the entire group is the dance line tbh, chisa, juria, and hinata are the vocal line, and jurin, harvey, maya, and cocona are the rap line.

In Japan, so I discovered them on debut day as a KZbin ad. I was waiting for my 5-second skip and they said Ta-ta-ta-ta, and my soul melted. I will never get over Tippy Toes and I will always stan XG. I can not really pick a proper bias when every body is a double or triple threat. But I gotta give Cocona (the one who stabs the bento and has the jewelled bball) flowers for her swag. I swear she rolls like she grew up "all my life I had to fight" in a ghetto somewhere. What I love about the Shooting Star visual is that it highlights a bunch of Japanese contributions to international pop culture... Mario, Sailor Moon, Hello Kitty... so it feels nostalgic both here in Japan and in the West. That was brilliant. Left Right is my jam. I am an 80s child, so this sort of R & B was big right when I started clubbing. Also, Juria and Chisa just ATE on this track. Not a crumb left in sight.

As a 86 liner, I spent my teenager years listening to a lot of old school r'n'b and ngl this hit home... Both Shooting Star and Left Right made me feel so nostalgic of these years... Def seeing a lot of TLC on this but u can also feel the Aaliyah influence in it and even on a later era some Ciara :D As for the rappers, listening to their cipher will make you understand their influences. Bruh I love watching people discover XG, especially when it really clicks with the reactor. XG makes me feel the same way I did when I first discovered kpop with boy groups and BTS in 2016, then again with girl groups and Loona + Mamamoo in 2020. I know XG aren’t technically kpop but they give the same kind of magical feeling I got discovering this whole universe of Korean pop and entertainment.

In my opinion, stating they’re a “global girl group” pretty much means that aren’t K-Pop and J-Pop artists. I think XG can be in the same box as TLC, Little Mix, FLO, 5th Harmony and other groups that uses Pop, R&B and Rap elements in their music.

I can't say enough about Shooting Star - I caught them on Inkigayo because I was waiting for [you know who] and up they popped with this song and wow! The Xypher by the rap line, the Vox series by their vocal line, and even their Move series was phenomenal. This is a great year for the ladies. From New Jeans, Twice, XG, to baby monster when they finally release their first project… it is going to be very interesting to watch.

What I love about this group is how well the members and their positions are utilized. Main dancers at the forefront, all rappers rapping but still providing supportive vocals, and main vocalists taking the more technical lines in the songs. Nothing that peeves me more than rappers or vocalists in a group that get no lines, or dancers that get placed in the back in favor of visuals. Or when stylists have an obvious bias. It helps that they’re all visually stunning, have great style between them, and are super talented in dance and vocals, and naturally confident. This is one of the most fair groups out there. They want to be at the scale of Spice Girls, Fifth Harmony and Destiny’s Child. They’re not trying to be boxed in but it’s clear the Korean market and promoting in their music shows will get them a lot of attention, considering the global attention Kpop currently has. So they’re all Japanese but trained in Korea, so they’re all tri-lingual.
